About the SKA Preconstruction Grants Program – Round 2
The SKA Preconstruction Grants Program – Round 2 will provide $7.6 million in co-investment
grants to support the Australian Government’s commitment to:

Enable Australian organisations to develop the relevant resources and capabilities to
significantly contribute to the design and technical process being conducted by the SKA Office
in the Preconstruction Stage; and

Enhance and develop Australia's overall capability to participate in, contribute to and benefit
from the SKA project across the extended project timeline.

C.1.

If your application is successful, the details you provide below will be published on the

Project duration
In most cases, the project start date will be the date the funding agreement is executed (i.e. please

Project plan
You must provide a plan of the project activities you will conduct including timetable and budget for
all significant activities.
You should include this as an attachment when submitting your application. Please note the project
plan should not exceed 20 pages.
C.5.
Project milestones and key activities.
Provide details on the activities occurring at each milestone.
The start date of milestone 1 is the expected project start date. The end date of your last milestone
activity will be the project end date. You might consider providing a milestone for each 3-6 months
of the project. The milestones should relate to the schedule of work agreed with your consortium
and the SKA Office. Please add more milestones if needed. Estimated cost for each milestone
should be the full cost (i.e. regardless of whether the cost will be funded by the grant or coinvestment. It should total across all the milestones to both the project budget at C6 and coinvestment contribution at C7).

Estimate the at-cost value of your contribution to the work package (refer to Program Guidelines for
definition of at-cost value). You should append a similar table for each consortium member covered

Merit criteria
To be competitive you will need to score highly against each merit criterion. [Your application will
be assessed against the indicators listed beneath each merit criterion. The merit criteria are
weighted as indicated by the points]. The amount of detail and supporting evidence you provide
should be commensurate with the project size, complexity and grant amount requested.

Importance of contribution to the SKA preconstruction stage
Please describe the importance of your contribution to the SKA Preconstruction Stage, taking into
account:

the degree of specialisation of the proposed work;

the availability of other potential partners with the same specialisation in the global SKA
partnership;

ability to effectively contribute to the design and technical path for the work package; and

the contribution the consortium makes to developing collaborative relationships (including
between sectors) that enhance the likelihood of SKA project success.
