The applicant should be:

Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Jomo Kenyatta
University of Agriculture and Technology;
(b) a holder of at least second class honours, upper division, Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronic

which is recognized by the university senate as

Master of Science in GIS & Remote Sensing
The following shall be eligible for registration for the Master of Science in Geospatial
Information System and Remote Sensing (Master of Science in GIS and Remote Sensing):
Either;
(a) A holder of at least an upper second class honors Bachelors degree of JKUAT in
a spatial information based or associated field, OR
(b) A holder of at least a Second Class Honours (Upper Division), Bachelor of Science degree in
relevant field, from any other institution recognized by the University Senate as being of equivalent
academic status to (a) OR
(c) A holder of a Bachelor of Science degree of at least Second Class
Honours (Upper Division), in a related field, which is recognized by the University Senate as an
adequate pre-requisite for M.Sc. in GIS and Remote Sensing OR

DURATION: 3 years

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
The following shall be eligible for registration for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering:
2.1
A holder of Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the Jomo Kenyatta University of
Agriculture and Technology; OR
2.2
A holder of a Masters degree or equivalent academic qualification which is recognised by the
University Senate as being equivalent to 2.1 above.

MODE OF STUDY: Full-time

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
The following shall be eligible for registration for the Postgraduate Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
3.1
A holder of at least second class honours, Upper Division, Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
and Electronic Engineering; Electronic and Computer Engineering; or Telecommunication and
Information Engineering of JKUAT.
3.2
A holder of at least a second class honours, upper division, Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering, from any other institution, which is recognised by the University Senate as being of
equivalent academic status to the programmes in 3.1; or
3.3
A holder of a Bachelor of Science degree of at least second class honours, upper division, in a
related field which is recognised by the University Senate as an adequate prerequisite for the
Postgraduate Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

MSc. In Construction Engineering and Management
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for May
2012 admission into Masters of Science in Construction Engineering and Management, to be offered in our
Centre for Sustainable Construction, SMARTEC (Sustainable Materials Research & Technology Centre). The
MSc course has been designed for professionals involved in the construction industry or recent graduates who
have a recognized basic degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering and Management,
Building Economics, Construction Project Management or Architecture or Construction Management, or
Agricultural Engineering or Biomechanical & Process Engineering or equivalent. The course theory will be
conducted in Nairobi Central Business (CBD), while work will be conducted at the main campus Juja.
The main objective of the programme is to develop competent and well-rounded construction engineers and
managers who will have the skills to source, secure and effectively handle projects in the domestic and
international construction market. The Masters of Science Degree shall be done by course work, examination and
thesis, whereupon the first year of study shall be devoted to coursework and examinations while the second year
of study shall be devoted to carrying out research and presentation of thesis. The course shall extend over a
minimum period of eighteen (18) months.
Minimum admission requirements
For applicants who have a recognized basic degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering and
Management, Building Economics, Construction Project Management or Architecture or Construction
Management, or Agricultural Engineering or Biomechanical & Process Engineering or equivalent, the following
requirements shall apply;
a) a holder of at least second class honours, Upper Division, degree as underlined above, of JKUAT, or
b) a holder of at least second class honors, Upper Division, degree as underlined above, from any other
institution recognized by JKUAT senate as being of equivalent academic status, or a holder of at least second
class honors, Upper Division, in a field which is recognized by JKUAT as an adequate prerequisite for the
Master of Science in Construction Engineering and Management, or any other equivalent qualification.
c) A holder of second class honors, Lower Division, degree as underlined above, of JKUAT, or any other
institution recognized by JKUAT Senate as being of equivalent academic status, and who in addition must
show proof of either two years relevant experience and professional development or academic advancement
through research, publication and postgraduate certificate course related to construction engineering &
management since graduation with the Bachelors degree, or a Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field.

MSC RESEARCH METHODS
The MSc in Research Methods is a two year programme which aims to train professionals who will support
agricultural and related researchers throughout the region. The course provides a strong foundation in research
design, data collection, data management and statistical analysis. Whilst built on the traditions of statistics and
biometrics, it extends these by placing them in the context of research for development. The programme aims to
produce research methods specialists who will be able to work across the social, economic and biophysical
sciences and who will be able to make solid contributions to enhancing the effectiveness of modern, integrative
research. The course is highly practical, built around research being carried out in East and Southern Africa. It
provides a professional training, aiming to prepare graduates for work in research programmes in the region. The
MSc course uses innovative discovery and problem‐based teaching approaches. The MSc course is suitable for
graduates in statistics or applied maths who are fascinated by agriculture and rural development, or those with an
