5x60 - Penglais
5x60 – The Introduction




The aim is to increase the number of Secondary school
pupils participating in physical activity on a weekly basis.
Extra-curricular = lunchtime, after school, weekends.
5x60 will work with local coaches and recruit volunteers to
offer new and exciting extra-curricular activities such as
Hip-hop, Golf, Basketball as well as the traditional sports
such as Netball and Football.
5x60 also offers older pupils the chance to gain both
coaching qualifications and experience through assisting
with the sessions.
5x60 so far…

Example of 5x60 sessions organised for Penglais include Hip-hop,
Basketball, Athletics and Girls TAG Rugby. Other activities offered
during a 5x60 Roadshow included Fitness circuits and Dodgeball (see
below).
Hiphop – ‘MTV Style’

Hiphop, led by Heidi Bonner. Sessions run weekly and include
dance moves from Beyonce and Justin Timberlake music videos!!

Year 7-9 Basketball with Lee Coulson of Aberystwyth Basketball Club.
WHEN? Winter term: Every Monday, 4pm-5pm at Plascrug L.C.

Athletics with John Caldwell of Aberystwyth Junior Athletics Club.
WHEN? All year: Every Monday, 4pm – 5.15pm at Penweddig School
Hall.

Indoor Climbing with qualified BOXROX instructors
WHEN? Spring term: Every Tuesday, 4pm – 5pm at UWA Sports Centre

Hiphop with Heidi Bonner, qualified Dance Instructor.
WHEN? All year: Thursday lunchtimes, 12.35pm-1.20pm in the School
Gym.

Yr.7-9 Girls TAG Rugby with Aberystwyth RFC.
WHEN? All year: Every Friday, 3.45pm-5.15pm on Club fields.
