Tulare County Office of Education Announces:
La Sierra Military Academy to hold two information
nights for students and parents
March 17 and April 14, 2011 • La Sierra Military Academy, 1735 E. Houston Ave., Visalia
Parents of students entering 7th- 12th grades who are interested in obtaining more information about
the La Sierra Military Academy (LSMA) should attend one of the following informational meetings:
• March 17, 6:00 p.m., LSMA Assembly Room
• April 14, 6:00 p.m., LSMA Assembly Room
Administrators will be on hand to answer questions about the school which will accept students for
the Fall 2011 semester. Principal Anjelica Zermeño reports that the school is seeking middle school
and high school students who have post-secondary ambitions and are committed to developing their
leadership skills and community service.

LSMA was created by the Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE) as a free, public high school
open to all students who are interested in the school’s code of conduct, intense physical training, and
academic success. With a military-style culture, the school has been successful in teaching hundreds
of students discipline, pride, and respect for themselves and others. La Sierra offers an After School
Program which includes college and career planning, mentoring, and technology. In addition, LSMA
offers service-learning courses, leadership courses, an Independent Studies Program, a program for
teen parents, and certification courses in various areas.
