Fines and Penalties Process
1. Yellow or red warning card is issued by a steward identifying the rule/s violated. A
detailed account of the incident should be documented by the steward issuing the
warning card. The steward should try to get photos, videos or testimony by those
witnessing the violation. This information should be sent to AQHA immediately after the
stewards completes their duties at the show.
2. Once received at AQHA, a letter is generated by Director of Breed Integrity to the
person(s) receiving the warning asking them to respond to the violation within 14 days
to the allegations.
3. All documentation will be reviewed by the Grievance Committee and they will
recommend an action to the Executive Committee, either not to proceed with a fine and
penalty or to recommend a fine, penalty or both.
4. If a fine and/or penalty are recommended, a second letter will be sent to the person(s)
who received the warning giving them the opportunity to accept the fine/penalty or
request a hearing.
5. Hearings related to animal welfare violations will be heard by members of the Show
Rules Violation Committee and AQHA Counsel.
