Data about Local Criminal Justice Board (LCJB)

Data About Local Criminal
Justice Board Areas
The Board recently published information describing the context for the work we are
currently undertaking at the request of Scottish Government to develop options for
the introduction of contracting. That information included data on recent trends in
the criminal justice system, including expenditure on criminal legal assistance across
Scotland. This showed an overall contraction in both business levels and associated
solicitor fee payments. There is some variation in these trends in different parts of
the country.
The Board has looked at the data for each of the eleven Local Criminal Justice Boards
(LCJBs). Click on the links to see more information on levels of business in courts in
the LCJB area (High Court cases are not included), solicitor fees (not fees as a
solicitor advocate) earned by firms with a head office location within the LCJB, and
the distribution of fees in 2012-13. The complaints and indictments data is sourced
from information held by the Scottish Court Service and is subject to final validation.
Figures for expenditure for 2012-13 are provisional at this stage.
