It helps to build your confidence, support you in coping with your children’s behaviour and strengthen your relationship with your child. Places must be booked to join at the beginning of the course and a certificate is awarded upon completion. Crèche facilities are available. Incredible Years Basic (for parent/carers of disabled children) This is a 12-half days specialist programme delivered by Carers of Barking and Dagenham. The course is geared to parents of a disabled child. Parents will understand why play and talk is so important, how to cope with challenging behaviour and how to build positive parent – child relationships’. Incredible Years Babies This 7-week course is aimed at parents and carers with babies under 6 months old to encourage their babies’ physical development and communication strategies. This course will help parents with routines, sleep and confidence in raising a newborn. Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (SFSC) This 13-week programme is open to all parents and carers of children between the ages of 0-21 years. The programme is adaptable to any age group and it helps to strengthen your skills and your confidence, reduce any behaviour difficulties and support a better future for you, your family and your community. Places must be booked to join at the beginning of the course and a certificate is awarded upon completion. Crèche facilities are available. Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities Oxford Brookes 10-14 (UK) (OXB) This 7-week programme is to help families with young people aged between 10 – 14 years old to prepare for teenage years. The programme is aimed at reducing alcohol and substance misuse and behavioural problems in adolescence and to help strengthen the parent/child relationship. Domestic Violence Treatment Programme (DVTP) This 12-week community based programme is for children and their mothers who have been exposed to domestic abuse. The purpose of the group is for children and their mothers to have the opportunity to move beyond what has happened in their family in a safe and therapeutic way. This means giving them the opportunity to process and understand the violence and abuse they have experienced.
