How to connect your Connected
Classroom and start working
Locate Your Equipment

For Each JPPSS Connected Classroom
Promethean installation, a Projector Bag
with Required Video and Data Cables,
Projector Remote control, ActivStudio
software, and ActivPens(2) inside.
The Bag
Video Cable

The Bag contains a 6 foot and a 25 foot
Video Signal Cable that connects the
laptop/desktop to the projector. Cable
length is for convenience and both do
the same duty
Projector Remote
To turn the
projector on.
Point the
remote and
press the green
button.




The Dell remote control turns your
projector on and off. It can also be
used to momentarily hide the viewable
image.
Point at the black remote sensors
located on the front and back of the
projector.
A single blue blinking light indicates
electrical power to the projector.
The remote has turned the projector on
when all lights turn blue.
Connecting Video


Connect one end of the
cable to the Video connector
located near your board (left
or right or sometimes below
the board.
Do not over tighten
thumbscrews

SECOND Briefly hit

FIRST Press down
and hold key

Connect the cable to the
back of your laptop
On Dell Laptops, Press and
hold FN then press F8
The Laptop cycles from
LCD only, to
LCD+Projector, to Projector
only by pressing F8
The Projector will auto
detect RGB(VGA) signal and
display your desktop on the
board
Be patient while it searches!
It may take a minute or two.
USB Data Cable

1 foot USB Short CABLE

2 Portable cables are provided
to make one continuous signal
from Laptop and Promethean
Board
A 1 foot USB A plug to USB A
plug cable must be connected to
the wall plate.
A 15 foot USB A PLUG to A
Jack cable completes
connection from the 1ft cable to
the laptop.

foot data cable to your laptop

USB Data Cable Troubleshooting

If ActivStudio icon on taskbar of computer
does not change and has a red X, keep the
cable arrangement.
 Disconnect the power to the board, restart the
computer, and once the computer starts,
reconnect power to board.
ActivPen

The ActivPen is a stylus used to calibrate the
video image with the board and also to
interact with ActivStudio content
Promethean Board Use

A fixed projector installation has already been
calibrated to the Promethean board so further
calibration is not necessary.
 If your ActivPen does not move your mouse
when touching or moving across the board,
your board may have lost calibration.


To calibrate your board from the computer, right
click the Activboard icon on your taskbar, select
calibrate and follow the onscreen prompts.
