TEXT : Microeconomics online notes by Hannes Kvaran.
GRADING:
1. Tests: I anticipate having four 100-point tests. These may be in-class or take-home. Grading will use a scale of 90 = A, 80
= B, 70 = C, 60 = D, below 60 = F.
2. Honors Project for 100 points
a. View the film, “The High Cost of Low Price.” Submit a paper of a minimum of 1500 words that uses class material
comment on the film. The purpose of the paper is to demonstrate grasp of class material.
OR
b. Create a different project with instructor approval. Original creative work, analysis of an existing enterprise, or a
paper on an existing industry are examples.
3. Assignments. There will be about 50 points worth of assignments, at 5 points apiece, to be completed out of class and
submitted in class. These are not accepted late.
My expectations:
1. Attend class, although attendance is not specifically
graded. Material not found in the text may be covered in
class. You may be dropped for poor attendance.
2. Fill out a withdrawal form if you wish to withdraw. Do
not stop attending and assume that you will be dropped. This
may result in your receiving a failing grade. Withdrawing
from a class is the responsibility of the student.
3. notify me, before the day of the next class period, in the
case of missing a test. Failure to do this will result in lost
points.
4. Read the assignments. You are responsible for the material.
5. Follow codes of conduct as outlined in the GCC Student
Handbook.
6. Do not use electronic devices if their use interferes with the
learning environment of the class. You may not have any
electronic device out during a test. Calculators are
permissible.
7. Let me know if you have a disability that may impact on
your work in this class and for which you may require
accommodation. If necessary, notify the Disability Services
and Resources office at 845-3080. Audio taping of this class
is permitted with instructor permission.
8. You are responsible for the material in this syllabus.
9. Ask questions and make comments in class.
Sexual Harassment Policy. Sexual harassment is any unwelcome,
verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that is sufficiently
severe, persistent, or pervasive that it alters working conditions and
creates a hostile environment or reasonably interferes with, limits, or
deprives a student of the ability to participate in or benefit from any
educational program or activity. Sexual harassment and
discrimination in any college education program or activity, is
prohibited. Students should report any discrimination and/or
harassment they experience and/or observe to the GCC Office of
Student Life in the Student Union. Phone 623.845.3525 or
email [email protected]. To view the full Sexual
Harassment Policy, refer to the Student Handbook – page 254.
