VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES
Introductory Period and Training
Every volunteer who comes for a short or long term will have an adjustment
period of two days to get accustomed to life in Thailand. Every volunteer ought
to go through a training before starting their ministry. We are delighted to give
you any helpful information to prepare you for your service.
Personal belongings
Your personal belongings represent your standards, keep them clean and
organized. You are responsible for the preservation of your own belongings.
Avoda property
Avoda reserves the right to utilize its own belongings, property, and housing in
the way it seems the best of all involved. Permission should be granted to use
Avoda property for personal use.
Days off, vacations and holidays
We believe that every volunteer is valuable and plays a big role in “Avoda”
ministry. We understand that you will need a vacation. If someone leaves, their
responsibilities are imposed on other volunteers. To avoid any issues, we
request that you inform our volunteer manager about your vacation plans, and,
if you get a permission, you can determine the dates of your vacation.

Health and Safety
To provide a better service to our volunteers, we ask you to fill out medical
history application. As a volunteer, it is vital that you are aware of Occupational
Health and Safety procedures. This is for your safety and the safety of everyone
around you. We expect our volunteers to have insurance whether you’re here for
a short or long period of time. You can get your medical insurance in your home
country or buy it here in Thailand.
Standard of Appearance and a Dress Code
Personal appearance is very important to Thais and it’s our testimony to
non-believers. The main thing to remember is that this is a modest country.
● Volunteers must wear modest clothing. Do not wear revealing or
tight-fitting clothes. Shirts should cover the shoulders (no
sleeveless), no low necklines, or too tight clothes. Shorts or skirts
should be modest (near knee-length). You may want a light jacket or
sweater for cool evenings.
● During church and teaching hours men are expected to wear dress
pants.
● Closed shoes are needed for sport and teaching.
