Exchange at Stockholm University - Application Instructions
Application Period:
Fall semester 2017 or academic year 2017/18: March 1st – April 1st 2017.
Step 1. Login to the online application portal





Please note that the online application has been optimized to work with Microsoft Internet
Explorer version 8 or higher, Firefox 5 or higher. We cannot guarantee that it will function
correctly with other browsers.
The online application can be accessed at:

In the right hand column, type your first name, surname and e-mail address and the characters
in the picture that will show up after you have filled out the boxes. Click “Register”.
Type your e-mail address and create a password of at least one digit, one letter and one special
character. The password must be at least 8 characters long.
A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the address you registered. Please click on the link in order
to activate your account.

Log in with your e-mail address and password. Type the characters shown in the picture that will
show up.
Step 2. Start application

Click on “Start new application”.
Step 3. Read the information under “Welcome to the online application for incoming students!”
Below are some guidelines on how to fill in the different sections of the application. If you put the pointer
on the circles with an “i” in the application form you will receive specified information about how to
answer a question correctly. Mark every page as complete at the bottom when everything has been
entered correctly.
Step 3. Enter your Personal Information inlcuding uploading a picture (jpg format).
 Enter your first name and surname as stated in your passport. This is very import for your visa
application.
Step 4 . Enter your Emergency Contact.

Step 5. Enter your Educational Background.
Step 6. Enter your Preffered Stay.






Framework: If you are applying to SU through a university wide agreement, select “Bilateral
University Wide Agreement”. If you are applying to SU through the Nordlys network, select
“Nordlys”. If you are applying to SU through the north2north network, select “north2north”. If
you are not sure which category you belong to, please contact the exchange coordinator at your
home university.
Department: Choose the department you wish to study at during your exchange at SU. If you
wish to take courses from more than one department please choose one of them.
Level: Select the appropriate study level.
Study area: Type your study area.
Start semester: Choose the semester you wish to start your exchange.
Duration in semester: Choose 1 (if you want to stay one semester) and 2 (if you want to stay two
semesters).
Step 7. Fill out your Language Proficiency.
Step 8. Further Information
 If you have a disability, impairment or long-term medical condition which may affect your
studies click “yes” and specify. Please note that Stockholm University must receive a
confirmation that your home university will pay for the support (related to your disability) you
can receive during the exchange. You also need to submit a medical certificate under “Relevant
Documents to be Uploaded” – “Additional Documents”.
 If not, select “no”.
Step 9. Course selection
 Use our course catalogue/websites as discribed in the “Guide on how to select courses…” to find
courses.
 Fill in courses with a total maximum of 30 credits.
*Information about Swedish language courses can be found here: http://www.su.se/svefler/english/education/courses-andprogrammes/swedish-for-international-students. All exchange students will be able to register for Swedish courses during the
Orientation Week.

Step 10. Relevant Documents to be uploaded
 Upload your Transcript as a Pdf file. (max size 10 MB)
 Upload your Proof of English Proficiency as a Pdf file Students whose mother tongue is English
or come from a Nordic country do not need to upload a test. (max size 10 MB)
 If you have a medical certificate and confirmation from your home university regarding a
disability please add theses documents as well (making all into one (1) Pdf). (max size 10 MB)
Step 10. Declaration
 Read the text and approve by ticking “yes”.
If your application has been submitted successfully you will receive a confirming text and can download
your application. Please note that we do not want to receive soft or hard copies of the application. All
information will be stored in the database. You will receive an outcome of your application by the end of
April/beginning of May if you are applying to a fall semester and by the end of October/beginning of
November if you are applying to a spring semester.
