We have made some changes to the league format for the upcoming season. Staff will be incorporating
a two-team Ryder Cup format in addition to the normal league play you are familiar with. The 16 week
league is broken down into a four week Ryder Cup Major Championship schedule and a ten week
regular season that is capped off with two weeks of playoffs.
Ryder Cup
The 12 nine-hole league teams and 6 eighteen-hole teams will be divided to form Team USA and Team
Europe. Teams 1-6 from the nine-hole and teams 1-3 from the eighteen-hole league will compete for
Team USA. Teams 7-12 from the nine-hole and teams 4-6 from the eighteen-hole league will compete
for Team Europe. During the 4 week Major Championship schedule, the two teams will be competing
against each other to earn points to crown a year end Ryder Cup champion. The schedule will be as
follows:




Week 1: The Masters – Teams will play with their teammates in a 4 person scramble
format. Handicaps will be determined based on the team’s total handicap. A blind draw
will be done to determine opponents.
Week 5: The US Open – Teams will play a 2 man alternate shot match against the
opposition.
Week 9: The Open Championship – Teams will play a 2 man best ball match against the
opposition.
Week 14: The PGA Championship – Just like the last round of the Ryder Cup, Team USA
will compete in a single’s match against players from Team Europe.
The scoring for the Ryder Cup schedule will be just as it is in the Ryder Cup where each match is worth a
point. Points will be accumulated throughout the 4 week Major Championship schedule.
Regular Season
The regular season will consist of ten weeks and will pair teams against each other in a two-man, match
play format - the same format the league has used in the past. In order to make the matches more
competitive, staff has implemented a new scoring system. This will allow one point to be earned on
every hole throughout the match. As in the past, points will be earned for the match winners.
Regular Season Scoring


In addition to the one point per hole, eighteen-hole league teams will receive two points for
winning the front nine and two points for winning the back nine. The winner of the overall
match will be worth five points.
In addition to the one point per hole, nine-hole league teams will receive three additional points
for winning the overall match.
Playoff Schedule
The top four teams in each league will advance to the playoffs and be seeded one through four. The two
week playoff will determine both the nine and eighteen-hole league champions. Teams that do not
qualify for the playoffs will compete against each other in alternate formats for the final two weeks of
the year.
