Proof of Lodging for Visa Purposes Bocconi Spring 2015-16

Proof of Lodging for Visa Purposes
Bocconi Spring 2015-16
As part of the Italian Student Visa application, all students must show that they will have appropriate
lodgings when they arrive in Milan. When applying for the Italian Student Visa through the San Francisco
Italian Consulate, you will need to provide one of the following:
Proof of Lodging at one of the Bocconi Residence Halls
If you apply for housing through the Bocconi online application, you will receive a decision in late
November. If you have been offered a room, then you will need to write back to the Bocconi housing office
immediately and request the Proof of Lodging letter. You will need to take this letter with you to your visa
appointment at the SF Italian Consulate.
OR
Proof of Hotel Reservation
If you have chosen to find your own housing, or if your visa appointment is prior to the time Bocconi sends
the Proof of Lodging letter, or for some reason you do not receive a housing offer from the Bocconi
housing office, you will need to make a one week hotel reservation (January 29 to February 5, 2016)
prior to applying for your visa. You will be able to cancel it after you receive your visa.
You can submit to the consulate the confirmation email that you receive from the hotel. It must include
your name, the hotel’s name and address, and the dates of your stay.
•
You can make the reservation at any hotel of your choosing in Milan.
•
Make sure that you know what the cancellation policy is before making your actual reservation.
•
After you receive your visa and passport back from the San Francisco Italian Consulate, you may
contact the hotel and cancel your reservation.
•
Do NOT cancel your reservation before you complete the visa process and receive your visa and
passport.
Alternatively, you may find that you wish to keep this temporary housing so that you have a place to stay
when you first arrive in Milan. It could be a good base from which to search for your housing for the
semester if you do not secure something before departure.
*IMPORTANT
The Proof of Lodging is for visa purposes only. Do NOT discuss your actual housing plans with the San
Francisco Italian Consulate. In general, only respond to questions when asked, and do not offer any
additional information.
