Play Like a Champion Today™ Parent Course: Play Like a Champion Today™ (PLACT) is an innovative coach and parent education program. Based at the University of Notre Dame, Play Like A Champion Today™ offers an athlete-centered, research-based approach to sports. It is designed to encourage a healthy approach to youth sports. This year, 2016-17, The Diocese of Columbus Recreation Association (DRA) requires at least one parent of 4th & 5th grade students participating in youth sports to have received this training. One parent or guardian is required to attend per student, but all are welcome. Students will not be permitted to participate until a parent/guardian has completed this training. Going forward each year incoming 4th grade parents will be required to complete the PLC training. Ultimately all families of students participating in diocesan sports will have completed this training. If a parent or guardian has completed the 3-hour Coach Version of Play Like a Champion, a requirement for Diocesan Sports Head Coaches for several years, that training satisfies the family’s PLC requirement. Parent PLC sessions are an hour long. There is a $10 fee per family for the Play Like a Champion Today™ book provided at the training and is yours to keep. Only one book required per family. PLC parent course is required for at least one parent/guardian of all school year 201617 4th, 5th, & 6th grade athletic participants. But PLC is not restricted to just those families. All St Andrew Parish parents and family members are welcome to attend PLC training session. Only the parent or guardian is required to purchase the PLC book. All classes are held in the multi-purpose room off the church parlor: August 28, 2016 August 30, 2016 September 7, 2016 November 9, 2016 November 20, 2016 1:30 PM 7:00 PM 7:00 PM 7:00 PM 1:30 PM Email to register: [email protected]
