Miss Ridings` Behavior Management Plan – First Grade – Room 127

Miss Ridings’ Behavior Management Plan – First Grade – Room 127
In our classroom it is super important that we are friendly to our peers,
work with them in a fair way, and respect each other’s ideas and
differences. It is also very important that we listen when others are talking,
follow directions, and give our best effort at all times. If we make the good
choices we will not only learn a TON but we will also have fun doing it. 
To help us remember to make good choices and be our best at all times we
will use a classroom clip chart. Each day your clip with your name on it will be
positioned at the poster that says, “Ready Star.” Throughout the day you will
have the opportunity to move your clip up if you make good choices and move
your clip down if you make bad choices . If you do make a bad choice you
will move your clip to the poster that says, “Falling Star.” This is a warning to
stop and think about your behavior and ways you can turn your behavior
around. The good news is that if you move your clip to “Falling Star” you
don’t have to stay there! Turn it around, make good choices, and you will be
well you your way back to “Ready Star” and maybe even “Rising Star!”
At the end of the day when we are packing up I will look at the clip chart and
see where everyone’s clips are. If you are on “Super Star” you will receive
two punches on your behavior punch card (I’ll explain behavior punch cards
soon!) If you are on “Rising Star” or “Ready Star” you will receive one punch.
If you are on “Falling Star” or “Fallen Star,” you will not receive a punch for
that day.
A behavior punch card is a small card you will write your name and date on
when you receive it. I will keep track of these so they do not get lost. When
all the spaces on your punch card are punched you will get to trade it in for a
prize! After you fill a punch card you will receive a new one to start the
process all over again.
Finally, there is one more way to earn a special “treat” at the end of the
week! Not only is it important to make good choices independently, but it is
also important to work together in a team and make good choices with your
classmates. In our classroom we will have a contest where students at each
table will work together to earn points. Every time I see a table making
excellent choices and working together, I will grant them a point. At the end
of the week the team with the most points gets to choose a prize!

Make sure you tell your mom and dad all about the ways
you can make good choices in the classroom and have fun
because of it!
Here is a more detailed breakdown of our behavior chart
Super Star (Blue) – 2 punches on punch card
Rising Star (Orange) – 1 punch on punch card
Ready Star (Green) – 1 punch on punch card
Falling Star (Yellow) – 5 minutes off recess
Fallen Star (Red) – 10 minutes off recess
**If misbehavior progresses past this point, students will miss 15 minutes of
their recess, will receive a note or phone call home, or a referral to the
office depending on the severity of the situation.
