COMPETITION RULES – GENTLEMEN
1) To enter a competition a player must enter his name on the Entry Sheet displayed
outside the Secretary/Manager’s Office on the day of the competition and pay the
Entry Fee before commencing his round. Penalty :- DISQUALIFICIATION
2) Where the entry sheet indicates a sweeps this is voluntary. JUNIORS (under the age
of 18) may not enter the sweep.
3) In qualifying competitions entrants should Sign In to the computer system.
4) Completed scorecards (including Nil returns) should be posted into the Scorecard
Box provided.
5) In qualifying competitions scores should be entered into the computer system.
6) All competitions including Knock-Outs must be played from the medal (white) tees
except Stableford competitions marked ** which are from the yellow tees.
7) In mixed competitions, the lady player must play from the 1st tee (Ladies).
8) On competition days non-competitors must play matches conforming to the format
of the competition during the time of the competition. For those competitions, with
reserved tee times shown in rackets, the format of matches outside such times is
unrestricted.
9) Latest start time for Competitions is 5.00pm with the exception of 36 hole
competitions. Any evening prize giving event may revert to an earlier time. Advance
details will be on Notice Board.
10) In CLUB MATCHPLAY events the responsibilities of competitors with regard to the
arranging of dates and times will be indicated on the Notice Board.
11) Handicaps – To obtain a handicap a member should complete three scorecards of
rounds played from the medal (white) tees which have been marked by a playing
member with a current handicap of the Club. Such cards should be endorsed “For
Handicap”. Ladies are not permitted to sign Gentlemen’s competition scorecards.
12) Handicap Allowances
Match Play:Singles
Foursomes
Full difference between the handicaps of the two players.
Half the difference between the aggregated handicap of each
side.
Four Ball
Player with lowest handicap to concede strokes to

each of the other players based on ¾ of the difference in their
full handicaps.

13) In the event of a tie in an 18 hole stroke play competition on handicap terms, the
result shall be decided on the first 9 holes, 6 homes, 12 holes, 15 holes, 3 holes, 2
holes, 1 hole, in that order. The handicap allowance being one half, one third, two
thirds etc, of the competition allowances as the case may be. In the Club
Championship a tie will be resolved by medal play over 18 holes and subsequently by
sudden death play.
14) Juniors playing in Club Competitions.
All juniors must obtain the prior permission of the Junior Organiser or
Competition/Handicap Chairman before competing in their first senior event.
Juniors are not allowed to participate in sweeps. The competition entry fee only
must be paid.
For juniors aged 15-18 there is no requirement to play with an adult (over 18 years of
age) playing member.
Juniors under 15 years of age can take part, but must play with an adult (over 18
years of age).
15) The Committee reserve the right to amend or alter any competition.
16) The Committee reserve the right to decide any dispute arising in relation to any
competition.
COMPETITION RULES – LADIES
1) Ladies Competitions to be played under LGU rules.
2) Cards must be marked by a fellow competitor.
3) Play may be in two’s, three’s or four’s in accordance with LGU rules and the
conditions laid down by the Committee.
4) A player must register her intention to compete by entering their name in the
Competition Book and paying the entry fee before commencing play.
5) A player intending to play in the Challenge Bowl, Stopford Cup, Drybrough Cup or the
Runciman Cup which are held on Saturdays, must register her intention to play by
entering her name on the entry sheet before the draw is made at 4.00pm on the
previous Thursday.
6) A player must register her intention to compete in a trophy under match play
conditions (eg the Nicholson Trophy) by entering her name on the appropriate
notice board and paying the entry fee before commencing play in the first round of
the competition.
Four dates, two of which must be on a Saturday or Sunday, shall be offered by the
player on top of the draw. If the player on the bottom of the draw cannot agree on
one of these dates, then she shall concede the tie. The loser of the tie shall be
responsible for entering the winner’s name on the draw sheet.
7) In the event of a tie in stroke play competitions, the winner shall be decided over the
last 9, 6, 3 or 1 holes.
8) If a match is all square after 18 holes it shall be played on until a conclusive hole is
won – strokes being given as in the first 18 holes.
9) Penalty for non adherence to these rules shall result in disqualification.
10) Should any dispute arise, the Committee’s decision shall be final.
