The Janesville FFA Alumni will be hosting six

The Janesville FFA Alumni will be hosting nine judging contests open
to all FFA/4-H teams. FFA teams may qualify for the state contest at
this event. Contest will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the
Rock County Fairgrounds in Janesville. For written directions to the

Registration will be from 8:15 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. All contests will
start at 9:00 a.m.
Pre-registration and fees are due by Monday March 4, 2013.
Awards will be given to the first place team and individual in
each of the eight contest areas. Additional awards will be given
based upon the number of teams registered for each contest.
Most of the contests are held in unheated areas, so please dress warm
with appropriate footwear. Bring clipboards and pencils.
A food stand will be provided and all contestants are encouraged to stay
for results/awards, which we will try to give by 12:30 p.m.
Each group may enter as many teams in a contest area as they would
like. A late fee of $30.00 will be charged after March 4th NO
ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER MARCH 10th.
All decisions of the official judges are final.
DAIRY CATTLE CONTEST (4 members to a team) Contestants will
judge 4 classes of dairy cattle, give one set of reasons, score one cow
on linear evaluation, place one pedigree class, and answer questions
about a class.
DAIRY PRODUCTS CONTEST (4 members to a team) Contestants
will identify 8 cheeses, identify and score 8 milk off flavors, identify
real and artificial dairy products and complete a test over the dairy
industry.
VETERINARY SCIENCE CONTEST (4 members to a team)
Contestants will identify small animal breeds, diseases, care
tools, and equipment relating to the care and raising of cats,
dogs, rabbits, rodents, ferrets, birds, and other small animals.
LIVESTOCK CONTEST (4 members to a team)
Contestants will place 6 classes of livestock (market hogs,
breeding gilts, market steers, breeding heifers, breeding ewes and
feeder lambs), USDA grade 4 market steers, and give one set of
reasons.
WILDLIFE CONTEST (4 members to a team)
Contestants will complete a test (50% of total score) over wildlife
ecology concepts and also complete a practicum (50% of the total)
which will be hands on. Example: I.D. furs, traps, plants, animals,
equipment, etc. Bring pencil as scantron will be used for scoring.
HORSE CONTEST (4 members to a team) Contestants will
evaluate and rank 3 or 4 classes of horses based upon confirmation
and performance, give one set of oral reasons, and complete a
problem solving practicum relating to horses or the horse industry.
Each section of the contest will be completed separately by the
contestants and then combined for a team score.
AG MECHANICS CONTEST (4 members to a team)
Contestants will complete a test (50% of total score) over such
subject areas as power and machinery, equipment, structures and
electrification, or soil and water and complete a practicum (50% of
total).
FLORICULTURE CONTEST (4 members to a team)
Contestants will identify up to 50 common flower/plant specimens
by their common name, complete a basic floriculture concepts test,
complete a basic floriculture practicum (example: price a floral
design, make a corsage, make a floral arrangement, etc.)

ENTRY INFORMATION
ALL entries MUST be made online using the www.saeserver.com site.
Use your chapter number for the login & password. Please indicate on
registration site if the team is coming to practice or qualify.
Practice/Qualify changes can be made the day of the contest if needed.
We accept multiple teams in each area- bring as many teams as
you wish to practice, but you may only enter one team per
contest area for qualification.

Entry Fees are $30.00 per team for Dairy Cattle, Dairy Products,
Livestock, Wildlife, Horse, Ag Mechanics, and Veterinary Science.
Individual entries for the above contests are $10.00 per entry.
Entry Fees are $40.00 per team for the Floriculture Contest.
Individual entries in the Floriculture contest are $10.00 per person.
