Wave Volleyball Club Captains’ Contract What are the responsibilities of Wave Team Captains? Be punctual– always be on time to every event. Always act respectfully towards coaches, referees, opponents, etc. Facilitate communication between coaches and team. Send out reminders for practice times & locations, tournaments, homework assignments. Organize the team during tournaments– make sure all reffing work assignments are filled, get team warmed up before matches, lead team stretching. Make sure the nets get set up and taken down in a timely manner during practices. Represent the team and club well at all times– make sure we are classy! Organize team bonding activities and create an atmosphere of inclusion. How we choose to lead our team: Lead by example– always be the hardest workers even when you are tired! Be a positive influence on our teammates, especially in stressful situations! Encourage others to not get down on themselves, and remember to not get down on myself too. Don’t let other’s attitudes affect me. Also, work to actively diffuse any tension on the team. Have pride in our team and be humble on the court. Celebrate appropriately. (Don’t be weird.) Always use “WE” instead of “YOU”. WE succeed as a TEAM and WE face obstacles as a TEAM. Be encouraging– use positive body language and tone of voice. Exhibit emotional stability on and off the court– be the rock of the team! Be stable and consistent– be someone my teammates can always rely on! Convey the message that every person on our team is important. Nobody is valued higher than another– we are all equals!
