LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND:

1 DECEMBER 10:30–12:30
Delegates Dining Room, UNHQ (4th Floor)
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)
is pleased to host the fourth Annual Global Humanitarian Policy Forum, where
we will launch the study:
LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND:
HUMANITARIAN EFFECTIVENESS IN THE AGE
OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
OCHA will launch its policy study on humanitarian
effectiveness, concluded at a time of unique opportunities to reduce vulnerability to crisis and better reach
those in fragile and conflict-affected environments,
particularly in light of the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) and other global change agendas. In the
face of diverse contexts, a comprehensive panel will
discuss the five policy shifts outlined in the study:
reinforce rather than replace existing capacities;
collaborate to reduce and end humanitarian need;
leverage comparative advantage through connectivity
and leadership; 360 degrees of risk and needs analysis;
and measure shared results for collective accountability.
The launch will feature a panel discussion with:
~ Amir Abdulla, Deputy Executive Director, World Food Programme
~ Kate Gilmore, Deputy Executive Director (Programme), UNFPA
~ Abdurahman Sharif, Director, Somalia NGO Consortium
~ Yasmin Ali Haque, Deputy Director, Emergency Programmes, UNICEF
~ Philip Spoerri, Permanent Observer of the ICRC to the UN
Moderated by journalist Marcelle Hopkins
