2015 Art Competition Entry Form & Conditions
QRRRWN Banana Shire is pleased to partner QRRRWN to deliver the 2015 Cultural Competition. The money raised
by this competition will support our local annual art festival the Brigalow Arts Festival.
Description:
For the purpose of this competition, a painting is defined as an original pictorial or abstract representation on board,
paper or fabric in (a) a medium applied by brush, knife or needle; or (b) any of the following media or similar: pen,
pencil, charcoal, pastel, collage, felt tip, thread; or (c) any mixture of the above.
Theme:
The theme for the competition is “Women Inspiring Women”. Entrants are requested to submit a few words
informing viewers why they chose that particular subject and submit with the entry form. It is not necessary to
create a new work, focused exclusively on the theme. Existing works, that have some relationship or linkage to the
theme, are welcome.
Art work will be exhibited at the QRRRWN Annual Conference, Biloela Civic Centre, QLD 4715
Prizes:
A finalists and people’s choice will be awarded. People’s choice will be by secret ballot. The winners will be
announced at the combined QRRRWN Annual Conference, Biloela on Friday night, 4th September 2015.
Conditions of entry
1. This competition is open to all Australian women, 16 years and over, who live in rural, regional or remote areas.
Eligibility linked to ABS definition of regional.
2. All entries must be the original work of the entrant, uncopied, unaided and must have been completed in the
two years prior to 3rd of September 2015 and must not have previously won a major prize.
3. Entry fee is $15.00 per entry (includes GST). Limit of 3 entries per person. Entry fees must be enclosed with
entry form. Entry forms can be downloaded from the QRRRWN website www.qrrrwn.org.au/conference.
4. All entered artworks are for sale. A commission of 22% will be retained on all sold work. GST, if applicable, must
be included in the sale price.
5. Identification: Each entry must be clearly labelled on the back with category, artist name, title of piece, and
selling price. Attach label provided.
6. Size: Maximum frame size is 130cm x 130cm
7. Each work needs to be suitably framed or ready for safe hanging with D-rings.
8. Entrants to submit a short written description about why they chose that particular subject.
9. All expenses relative to insurance, delivery, transport and packing to/from the competition shall be borne by the
competitor.
2015 CULTURAL COMPETITION
10. Entrants are asked to be responsible for the logistics of their entries. While all care will be taken while entries
are in its charge, the QRRRWN Inc. does not accept responsibility for damage or loss incurred before, during or
after the exhibition.
11. Competitors agree to allow reproduction of their works for newspaper and television during the exhibition
and/or for QRRRWN publications and QRRRWN website. Credit to the photographer will be applied where
possible.
12. Judge/s’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Judge/s reserve the right not to award a
prize if entries do not reach the required standard.
How to enter
Completed entry forms together with entry fees must be received by 4pm Friday August 21st 2015. LATE ENTRIES
WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Entries are to be posted to QRRRWN Competition Coordinator, c/-, PO Box 335, Biloela
4715 Qld. Entry forms can be downloaded from the QRRRWN website www.qrrrwn.org.au/conference.
Entries by post must arrive no later than 4pm Wednesday September 2nd and addressed to QRRRWN Competition
Coordinator, PO Box 335 Biloela 4715. LATE WORKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Entries delivered in person must arrive
between 4pm to 5.30pm Thursday September 3rd 2015 to the Biloela Civic Centre.
Entrants are to collect their artwork between 4 to 5.30pm Saturday September 5th 2015 at Biloela Civic Centre. If
artwork is to be returned, return freight consignment note, receipt number, stamps, prepaid voucher etc. to be
forwarded with entry form and entry fee. If enclosed return freight costs do not cover actual postage costs the
item(s) will be returned COD. Please ensure that packaging is sufficiently robust to with stand return journey.
