Prem Lobo is a Principal at Cohen Hamilton Steger & Co. Inc. and a former Associate Director at Navigant Consulting’s
Disputes & Investigations practice. Prem specializes in the quantification of damages, business valuations and forensic
accounting. His practice has been focused exclusively in this area since 2001.
Prem has been involved in the quantification of damages resulting from breach of contract, misrepresentation, intellectual
property matters and other financial disputes. He has been involved in business valuations pursuant to shareholder
disputes, purchase price allocations, corporate acquisitions and for various transactions. Prem has experience in
quantifying damages in class action lawsuits, quantifying business loss arising from expropriation proceedings, and
performing valuations and transfer pricing analyses in tax litigation contexts.
Prem’s damages quantification, business valuation, and forensic accounting experiences have encompassed a diverse
range of industries including manufacturing, software development, power generation, pharmaceuticals, financial services,
real estate, retail, construction and others. Prem has prepared or assisted in the preparation of numerous expert reports
and affidavits. Prem has participated in various arbitrations and has appeared as an expert witness at trial and at mediation
proceedings.
Prem is a frequent public speaker and writer, and has published in numerous legal and accounting periodicals including
Business Valuation Digest, the Lawyer’s Weekly, CA Magazine and the Ontario Expropriation Association Newsletter. Prem
has taught accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels at York University’s Schulich School of Business
and the University of Ontario. Prem has authored or co-authored six accounting-related text books and study guides.
Prem sits on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Expropriation Association.
