I/N Tek and I/N Kote About I/N Tek and I/N Kote I/N Tek facts The plants are in New Carlisle, Indiana, about 60 miles east of ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor in East Chicago, Indiana. Daily unit trains deliver substrate from Indiana Harbor and Burns Harbor. The principal customers of I/N Tek and I/N Kote are automotive and appliance markets. Plant leadership About I/N Tek I/N Tek is a continuous cold-rolling plant that produces sheet steel of unmatched quality and consistency. A 60/40 joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC), I/N Tek enables the combination of five processes that take 12 days or more to perform via traditional batch methods. By welding coils end-to-end, the plant can run them continuously through these processes – pickling, tandem-rolling, annealing, temper-rolling and inspection – in less than a day. The current configuration of I/N Tek breaks this once continuous process into two separate functions; continuous pickling and tandem rolling through the Continuous Descale Cold Mill (CDCM), and continuous annealing, temper rolling, and inspection through the Continuous Annealing Processing Line (CAPL) in order to give greater flexibility in providing material to I/N Kote for galvanizing or galvannealing. The partnership produces 1.7 million tons annually through the CDCM and 1.2 million tons annually through the CAPL. About I/N Kote I/N Kote is a 50/50 joint venture between ArcelorMittal and NSSMC, with separate lines producing 500,000 tons of hotdipped galvanized and galvannealed sheet and 400,000 tons of electrogalvanized sheet annually. I/N Kote sits on about 25 acres of land, adjacent to the I/N Tek site. partnerships between subsidiaries of ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation 30755 Edison Road I New Carlisle, IN 46552 I T +1 574 654 1000 usa.arcelormittal.com I @ArcelorMittalUS Tom Cayia, president Union representation Todd Kegley, president United Steelworkers Local 9231 Employees 260 Acreage 200 Products Cold-rolled sheet, annealed sheet Markets served Appliance, automotive, distribution I/N Kote facts Plant leadership Thomas Cayia, president Union representation Todd Kegley, President United Steelworkers Local 9231 Employees 260 Acreage 25 Products Hot-dipped galvanized and galvannealed, electrogalvanized coil Markets served Automotive ArcelorMittal USA Sustainability and corporate responsibility highlights Our sustainability and corporate responsibility approach is driven by 10 sustainability outcomes that we believe are essential not only for the long-term future of our business and our ability to deliver value for all stakeholders, but also for the role that steel has to play in creating high-quality, sustainable lifestyles for people all over the world. Highlights of five of these 10 outcomes, of which I/N Tek and I/N Kote play an important role, include: • Safe, healthy, quality working lives for all of our people: The lost time injury (LTI) frequency rate in the U.S. in 2015 was 1.33 per million worker hours, a 15 percent improvement over 2014. • Efficient use of resources and high recycling rates: Nearly 28 percent of each ton of steel produced at ArcelorMittal USA is from recycled scrap steel. • Responsible energy user that helps create a lower carbon future: 24 energy projects resulted in $20 million in energy savings, the equivalent of powering 25,000 homes a year. Designated ENERGY STAR® partner and Better Buildings, Better Plants member. • Trusted user of air, land and water: Recognizing the importance of water within our business, we are a leader and the sole corporate funder of Sustain Our Great Lakes, a public-private partnership to protect fish, wildlife and habitat throughout the Great Lakes Basin. The program has made $113.6 million in conservation investments in the region since 2006. • Active and welcomed member of the community: Since 2008, ArcelorMittal USA and its employees have invested over $54 million in nonprofit organizations across the United States. Our signature grantmaking initiative is investing in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs at the local and national level. I/N Tek and I/N Kote’s corporate responsibility efforts are led by a Council for Stronger Communities (CSC). Comprised of diverse leadership from the facilities, the CSC implements global, national and local initiatives and builds sustainable stakeholder partnerships. Major community investment partners at I/N Tek and I/N Kote include: • American National Red Cross • Food Bank of Northern Indiana • La Casa de Amistad • New Prairie High School Robotics • St Joseph County Parks Foundation • Town of New Carlisle An example of sustainability at I/N Tek and I/N Kote I/N Tek and I/N Kote are committed to decreasing their ecological footprint. In order to achieve their sustainability goals, the facilities implemented a waste management plan to mitigate industrial wastewater. The plants were presented the John M. Craddock Award for outstanding contributions to the field of industrial wastewater management by the Indiana Water Environment Association in 2014. The association is devoted to the preservation of Indiana fresh waterways and educating members and citizens alike on the importance of conservation and aquatic ecosystems. 2016/5
