Assistant Coach: Larry Thomas
Coach Thomas graduated from Gordon Central High School in 2000 where he played baseball and was
the team captain his junior and senior year. He was selected to be on the Georgia All star team his
senior year. Coach Thomas received a full baseball scholarship to play at George C. Wallace Community
college in Dothan Alabama where he played his freshman year before transferring to Kennesaw State
University. Coach Thomas received his bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical education while at KSU.
Coach Thomas began his coaching career at his alma mater, Gordon Central High School where he was a
lay coach for 3 years. Gordon Central went to the 3AAA playoffs in 2005, with Coach Thomas as the
hitting and catching instructor. Coach Thomas then moved across town to help the Sonoraville High
School baseball program for one year. Coach Thomas expanded his coaching career by working with the
Geneva Red Wings baseball division in New York in 2009. The Red Wings are a Division I wood bat
summer league team; one of only 3 sponsored by MLB. While in NY, Coach Thomas was the hitting and
catcher instructor for the Geneva Red Wings, as well as the first base coach. The Geneva Red Wings
finished 3rd in their within their division. Coach Thomas has been married to Cara Thomas, a
kindergarten teacher in Calhoun, for 6 years and they reside in Calhoun. This will be Coach Thomas’
second year working as an assistant coach for the SE Raiders.
