Informal and interactive 2. Formal • In order for attention to be gained, generally necessary to write, e.g., 1. Write an op-ed in order to get on the radar 2. Write a persuasive note to get an appointment with a decision maker (I&I) 3. Submit a written brief to get invited to make an oral presentation (F) 3 Understanding attention • What information consumes is rather obvious: it consumes the attention of its recipients. Hence a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention, and a need to allocate that attention efficiently among the overabundance of information sources that might consume it.
