Staff from QCS, Queensland Ambulance Service, Queensland
Fire and Rescue Service and Emergency Management
Queensland are ensuring the Department of Community
Safety has a strong presence at the 2010 Former Origin Greats
(FOGS) Indigenous Employment and Career Expos.
The FOGS Expos give Indigenous job seekers and school leavers
throughout the state the opportunity to connect with a selection of
Queensland’s most prominent employers, education and training
providers, together with a host of former State of Origin heroes.
Queensland State of Origin assistant coach Allan Langer,
Queensland State of Origin selector Gene Miles and Queensland’s
first ever State of Origin captain Arthur Beetson flew the FOGS flag at
the expo held in Rockhampton on 12 May.
Langer, Miles and Beetson were joined by other Former Origin Greats
including Chris Close, Jason Hetherington and Steve Walters at the
free event.
The DCS booth was a popular stop with a steady stream of expo
visitors from Rockhampton and surrounding areas coming by to
speak with staff about career and employment opportunities.
The remaining FOGS Indigenous Employment and Career Expos for
2010 will be held in Mt Isa on 2 June, Mackay on 21 July, Brisbane on
15 September and Townsville on 6 October.
