Welcome to Miss Holguin’s Class!
Welcome Back
Welcome to the best year ever! I’m Miss
Holguin and I am absolutely THRILLED to
be your 4th grade teacher this year!
This year, we will magnify our creativity in
writing, intensify our imagination in
reading, and deepen our knowledge in
math.
We’re also going to have a delightful time
exploring our 4 cottages—Reptile Ranch,
Conservation Plantation, Arizona
Highways, and Grand Canyon Marketplace.
I have some exciting projects planned for
this year and I cannot wait to get started
on this learning journey with each of you!
Open House
Open House is Monday, July 24th from 8:00am4:00pm. Our assigned time is at 1:00pm. I will
be in room 57 in building 2 eagerly awaiting to
meet you! You will get to explore your new
classroom, meet your classmates, pick up and
sign important papers, find out carpool
information, find our line-up location, and meet
with me J. Please remember to bring your
supplies and completed Open House Forms
(found online) with you to open house. Please
be sure to follow the attached supply list. Some
items will be kept in your desk while others will
be shared in our classroom community—make
sure to read the list carefully. Also at Open
House, each student will need to purchase a
planner and Scholastic News Magazine
subscription. Please bring a check (or cash) for
$10—make checks payable to EDUPRIZE.

Read-Alouds
We will be reading and studying a different
novel each quarter. I have chosen these books
because they are some of my FAVORITES!
I am asking that each student bring their own
copy of these novels at the beginning of each
quarter. You can either purchase them OR
rent them from the public library. Students
will need them for the ENTIRE quarter.
Quarter 1—Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by
Judy Blume
Quarter 2— My Life with the Chimpanzees by
Jane Goodall
Quarter 3— Danger in the Desert by T.S. Fields
Quarter 4—Navajo Code Talkers by Nathan
