Job Description for the Newburgh Sea Creatures Head Age Group Coach
The Newburgh Sea Creatures of Southern Indiana are a USA Swimming Bronze medal team of just under 200 members that have a proud
history of producing athletes that have gone on to become collegiate and national champions as well as Olympians. Through devotion to our
mission statement which reads “Cultivating athletes, leaders, and role models through the sport of swimming”, our staff is dedicated to
empowering individuals to reach their true potential regardless of their age or ability.
Employment Schedule:
▪ Full time employment
▪ Reports to NSC Head Coach
▪ Salaried position ranging from $30,00 to $42,000 commensurate with experience
Job Purpose/Overview:
The NSC Head Age Group Coach is responsible for overall management and direction of the Age Group program. The candidate will oversee
all facets of the program including, but not limited to, practices, meets, and social activities. Excellent communication skills, both written and
verbal, as well as the ability to motivate, lead, and instruct, not only swimmers but other coaches and parents is a paramount function within
this position. On deck coaching time may range from 20 – 30 hours per week with all levels of swimmers. A further fundamental aspect of the
candidate will be to work collaboratively with Castle High School , CHS administration, and the WCSC.
Key Responsibilities:

Must follow USA Swimming and NSC code of conduct
Must have ability to act professionally when making decisions and handling conflict
Must be physically capable of sustained walking, or standing
Must be willing to work flexible hours; including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Licenses/Certificates:
▪ Current USA Swimming Coach Member
▪ This includes being in compliance and up to date with USA Swimming’s requirements for all coach members including:
background checks, Athlete Protection, Safety training for Swim Coaches, CPR, and Foundations of Coaching 101
Education and Experience:
▪ Competitive swimming background
▪ Minimum five (5) years coaching experience is preferred
▪ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
