2.3. Relevant Learnings
1. Appraisal Requirements: Training needs identified in performance appraisal
2. Organization / Department Requirements: Examinations/courses that are mandated at
Org/Department level
3. Role Requirements: Role based training needs based on the competencies required to
perform the role.
4. IBU Internal Trainings: Project / IBU internal trainings.
5. Project Specific Training Requests:
a. Trainings arranged by Learning teams against project specific requests.
b. Organization sponsored workshops / seminars / web-cast / certification trainings /
certification exams.
2.3.1. Training Needs Identified in Appraisal 2015 - 16
In appraisal 2015-16, managers have identified training needs (technical as well as behavioural)
for their appraisees through the Ide@s system. For every Associate, these needs have been
mapped to corresponding courses / exams and if the Associate completes any of these courses /
exams, these will be considered as relevant. These have been seen on learning portal.
2.3.2. Mandatory Trainings/Exams
Associates will get some learning mandates with source as:
1. Organizational Mandate: All Associates in specific grades need to complete.
2. Department Mandate: All Associates in specific grade in specific department have to
complete.
3. Other: Based on customer specific requirements.
4. Reporting Manager: Specifically entered by line manager / Reporting Manager in iLearn
(Learning system) with target dates.
Pending exams/courses from the above process will be considered as relevant in the training
KRA. As and when fresh mandates get added for the associates, these will be included in the
relevant training / exam list.
2.3.3. Role Based Training Needs related to competencies required for the role
Based on the associate’s role, relevant Behavioural and Professional Competencies are
allocated. In addition to that Technical competencies are allocated by line manager.
Examinations/courses related to such competencies are considered to be relevant.

2.3.4. IBU Internal Trainings
Internal trainings are those that are conducted by the IBU’s own trainers and attended by
Associates within that particular IBU. These are trainings imparted on:
1. Specific products / tools used internally by the IBU
2. Local procedures for the IBU
3. Customer specific applications / systems
4. Business functionalities used in the IBU
5. IBU / Project specific induction
6. Trainings conducted / facilitated by customers for TechM Associates
Note: Knowledge sharing discussions, hand holding on-the-job and grooming / mentoring efforts
are not considered as IBU / Project Internal trainings.
2.3.5. How the Trainings are mapped to Associates as Relevant?
Whenever IBU specific trainings get conducted internally, IBUs get these regularized through
Learning Teams as per “Internal Training Regularization Guidelines”. Once regularized, these
trainings will be considered against the Associate’s relevant trainings.
2.3.6. Trainings arranged against Project Specific Requests
Besides the various relevant trainings detailed above, Associates may complete the following
trainings based on business requirements:
1. Trainings arranged by Learning Teams against project specific requests.
Explicit training requirements raised by project managers to training department are
considered as project specific requests. Once delivered, these trainings will be considered as
a part of Associate’s relevant trainings.
2. Organization sponsored workshops / seminars / web-cast / certification trainings /
certification exams.
These are very specific requirements where Associates are sponsored by the organization
for any of the above. In such cases, these will be considered as a part of Associate’s relevant
trainings, on approval from their IBU head.
2.4. Rules for Training Days Calculation
1. Training days can be any suitable combination of technical and behavioral trainings
appropriate to the Associate’s profile.
2. Learning credit days for training or assessment will be counted only once in the financial
year. E.g. Even if eLearning course with credit of 8 hrs is completed by associate twice in a
year, learning credit of 8 hours will be considered.

Learning Team
3. ALL trainings seen by the Associate as “Relevant” in the iLearn (Learning system ) screen will
be considered for training KRA completion. Even if the role of an Associate changes, the
trainings relevant to the earlier role will not be removed from the list because the Associate
might have spent some learning efforts on these trainings / exams before the role got
changed.
4. If any training /examination attended by an associate is not shown as ‘relevant’ to the
current role but the line manager feels that it is relevant, he/she has the option of making
such trainings/examinations relevant for his/her reportees through learning portal. Once
the trainings/examinations are made relevant, associate can get KRA credit for the same.
5. The training days will be compiled based on classroom sessions as well as examinations
cleared by the Associate.
a. If an Associate attends classroom training as well as the associated examination,
the maximum of two learning credits will be provided to the Associate.
b. Associate will get credit for all relevant courses/exams completed in this
financial year. This is irrespective of whether the course/exam has been
previously attended before this financial year.
2.5. Contribution Avenues
Following are the different avenues through which you can contribute to different learning
activities to fulfill Contribution KRA.
2.5.1. Contributing as an SME
The learning teams create courseware / eLearning material / assessments/ competency
indicators for various training offerings. To make these artifacts application oriented, the
learning teams frequently require SMEs who have the expertise in that particular
technology/domain. Within the role of an SME, associates can opt for one or more of the
following:

Design the high level and detailed contents of the courseware.

Create courseware / assessments / case study etc.

Review the courseware / assessments / assignments / Case studies etc.

Design indicators for competencies. While designing the indicators, an SME is expected
to interact with other SMEs from same or other IBUs and arrive at a common consent
for the sign-off of indicators so that they become acceptable organization wide.

Evaluation of various assessments.

Develop self-learning induction packs / courseware for project-specific internal
trainings.

2.5.2. Contributing as an Adjunct faculty
Adjunct faculty is an associate from any department, other than learning, who conducts/
facilitates face-to-face or virtual training sessions on need basis.
Learning teams announce such requirements and invite contribution from adjunct faculties.
Associates can respond to the same or proactively get in touch with the learning teams to
contribute. Concurrence from the line manager is necessary to work as an adjunct faculty.
A. Selection Criteria for Adjunct Faculty

Conducting a training session for the first time: Selection is based on screening of the
profile, evaluation by the learning team / stakeholders from delivery and references
from senior managers

Conducting trainings subsequently: Participants’ feedback of previous (up to two)
sessions is considered

Successful completion of ‘Train the Trainer’ program, wherever applicable
B. Scope of Work as Adjunct Faculty

Creating the course catalogue and material, if not available with the Learning team.
Providing technical support to learning team for training setup as applicable.

Delivering the training.

Conducting end-of-session evaluation and handing over the scores to the training
coordinator, as applicable.

Providing attendance sheets, assignments to the learning coordinator and end-ofsession trainer feedback in the learning management system.
2.5.3. Contributing as a Technical Mentor
Learning teams invites delivery associates as technical mentors who can provide technical
guidance to Fresher’s by sharing experiences, delivery pain points, real life scenarios etc.
You can get in touch with your IBU Learning Officer (You can get the name on iLearn ->
Home -> My SPOC Detail) for any training contributions to be made through any of the
above avenues
