The Big Idea:
In this unit the children are
going to be finding out all
about themselves, their new
friends in the class and all of
the exciting things they can do
now that they are at school.
There will be opportunity to
play with bricks, blocks, sand
and water, paint pictures of
themselves and listen to
stories, sing songs and count.
In this unit the children are
going to learn about patterns
and asking which patterns they
can remember. They will go on
a pattern walk, making and
matching patterns in the
classroom and the
environment. They will be
finding out about patterns in
nature.
In this unit the children are
going to be learning all about
bears. They will find out about
real bears and will listen to the
story of Goldilocks and the
three bears. They will make
porridge, paint a portrait of
bears and make bear masks.

The Big Idea:
The Big Idea:
The Big Idea:
In this unit the children are
going to be learning all about
food. They will set up a café in
their classroom and cook all
kinds of food and watch how it
changes. They will be making
pictures of food and using food
to print with. They will be
finding out where food comes
from and will be growing their
own food.
In this unit the children will learn
about all the kinds of things
which float in the air. They will
design and make their own kites,
play with bubbles and make a
hot-air balloon. They will play
parachute games together.
Everyone will learn about some
kite festivals in other countries
and make pictures with bubbles.
In this unit the children are
going to be learning about wild
animals - the kind that live in
the jungle or sometimes in a
zoo. They will play games
about animals and pretend to
be animals. The class will be
listening to animal stories and
making homes for animals to
live in. Each classroom will have
a jungle or zoo corner in the
classroom.
