Graph (black bars = actual) YOUR RECENT ELECTRIC USAGE The following example explains the line items found on demand-metered electric bills for our non-residential customers (excluding those customers eligible for the Hourly Pricing Provision) that differ from the previous example of residential electric bills. Delivery Service Charges Non-residential demand metered electric bills include two separate delivery service charges which are based on (a) energy consumption, and (b) demand. This is due to the variability in the amount of electricity that commercial and industrial customers use overall (consumption) and it is also due to the unpredictability in the amount of electricity that the customer may require to meet their needs at any given point in time (demand). With deregulation, customers are able to choose their electric and natural gas suppliers. Unbundled bills allow customers to see and compare supply prices so that they can make informed decisions. a Energy Delivery Service Charge: The cost to deliver electricity to customers, whether purchased from Central Hudson or another supplier. This portion of the bill is based on the consumption of electricity measured in kWhrs. b Demand Delivery Service Charge: The cost to meet the maximum delivery requirements of customers at any given point in time, whether purchased from Central Hudson or another supplier. This portion of the bill is based on the demand requirements of electricity measured in kW or kilowatts of demand. The demand charge will be the highest average kW measured in a 15-minute interval during the month for which the bill is rendered. All other line items on the face of a non-residential demand metered electric bill are the same as explained on the residential electric bill.
