• Find dig deeper in two trending industries (each table) and make a
note of the top two employing careers, and the top two fastest
growing. decide what is the biggest surprise and record it.
• Find a video story and watch it
• Research one trending career and answer the questions
• Find AirCV
• Load your CV on as a word document and see what happens
First table when everyone on the table is finished wins.
Competition winners go around to other tables to help them complete
for minor places!

Twenty questions
The following green resources are guiding
questions for a careers session on one of
Geelong’s top trending industries: in this case
Careers in Caring. The questions can be adapted
for different year levels, including VET and VCAL
students, and can also be modified to cover the
seven other trending industries in the Geelong
Region.

The block game
Chalk friendly wooden blocks are stacked up with some of
the “blocks” to employment brainstormed and listed.
This activity works well with low literacy students who,
with help can fill out some of the ideas they come up
with, to create a wall between them and their first job, or
dream job, or job interview. The group then brainstorms
how to overcome each indvidual obstacle. The best
answer achieves the right to rub out the obstacle and
remove the block. With creativity and determination,
every obstacle can be overcome. An applied learning
illustration of what it takes to achieve employment in the
real world!
