Dear Class VIII Parents,
As we move into the second semester of the school year, we would like to share with you our schedule
for end-of-year events (Click on the link to view the schedule) and some highlights of the last weeks of
school. We know the spring will go by quickly, and the excitement of Commencement will be here
before we know it.
The Banner Ceremony will take place on Tuesday June 6, 2017 from 12:00-12:30 p.m. in the David
E. and Stacey L. Goel Theater. During this ceremony, the members of Class VI celebrate the members of
Class VIII by presenting the banner that they have sewn in the seniors’ honor. Senior parents are
cordially invited to attend.
The Awards Celebration, an all-school event, will take place on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 1:30 p.m.
to 3:00 p.m. in the David E. and Stacey L. Goel Theater. The Awards Celebration is a recognition of
students’ special accomplishments, a time when athletic, academic, and arts awards are presented. Senior
parents are invited to attend this event as well.
Commencement will take place on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in the Winsor courtyard. The day will
begin with the senior class photo at 8:30 a.m., followed by the ceremony itself at 10:30 a.m. Each senior
will be given four tickets for reserved seating behind the Class of 2017 in the graduation tent. There will
be plenty of unreserved seating in other areas of the tent for additional guests; ushers will be available to
help you find seats in both reserved and unreserved areas. No tickets are necessary for seating in the
unreserved area. Following the Commencement ceremony, new graduates and their guests are invited to
a celebratory luncheon in the dining room in Peter Hall. We have space for up to eight guests per student.
Tickets are not required.
Winsor’s regular parking lots will be reserved for senior graduates and their immediate families.
Additional overflow parking will be available on the Winsor playing fields and in the MASCO garage.
Please consider carpooling on Commencement day to help reduce the number of vehicles per family. You
will receive an official invitation to Commencement in early May, and event details will be posted on the
school’s website: www.winsor.edu/calendar.
We look forward to celebrating with you your daughters’ accomplishments and Winsor experience. We
hope you will be able to join us for these very special end-of-the-year events.
