How to Define Your Website Design Goals
When planning a website, you should start by defining your website design goals.

Why do you want a website? Your answer to this is important and you need to be clear about it.
Sure, most people have a few vague goals, but few actually take the time to define them and
flesh them out. Achieving your website design goals without defining them is like trying to shoot
a target with a blindfold on.
Use this worksheet to write down as many goals for your website as you can think of
For example:
● Improve your brand awareness
● Generate leads
● Sell your products online
● Save your staff time by handling repetitive customer queries
Try to come up with at least 10 goals, even if they do not seem to be important write them
down.
Now, read through your goals and then re-write them in order of importance.
That was pretty easy wasn’t it? The thing is, defining your website design goals is not necessarily hard, it is finding the time to actually stop for a few moments and write them down.

If you do not write down your goals, then neither you nor your marketing team or digital marketing agency will be able to align their actions and designs towards achieving them.
The main reason, in my opinion, that websites and digital marketing strategies fail is because no
one took the time to decide what they actually needed to achieve and thus the website and
campaigns that were put in place were in fact inadequate for the job.
Now that you have an idea what your website design goals are and which are your most important, you need to spend a little time refining them.
This could take you another 30 minutes or maybe it will take you a few days, especially if you
decide to get other stakeholders to go through the same process – not a bad idea actually, since
different departments may have different website needs.
