The Economic and Social Research Institute, founded in 1960, is located in Dublin’s South
Docklands area. Its mission is to produce high quality research, relevant to Ireland’s
economic and social development, with the aim of contributing to knowledge and informing
policymaking and public debate. It has over 100 staff including economists, sociologists,
social scientists, support and technical staff.
Applications are invited for the positions as Research Assistant in the areas of
Communications and Macroeconomics. Additional roles may arise during the course of 2017
and we intend to fill these from the same panel. Accordingly, we would welcome
applications from candidates with research interests in other areas of economics.
The position is open to graduates with a high grade on a post-graduate economics degree.
The Research Assistantship is a two-year fixed-term contract. Participants will receive
dedicated supervision and appropriate additional training. On completion of the
programme, Research Assistants will have acquired excellent skills which may be applied to
PhD research or to research positions in the public and private sectors. More information

Application procedure:
Appointments will be on a two year fixed-term contract basis and starting salary will be
€30,221. The successful candidate will be based in the ESRI offices in Dublin 2.
