Captains Reports – Round 12
1st Grade – Scott Robertson
Carlisle defeated Mt Lawley
Carlisle 10 / 192 - Mt Lawley 10 / 83 & 7 / 162
Day 1 – We won the toss and strategically decided to bowl, knowing that the Mt
Lawley boys for a batsman short. This paid dividends ripping through top order,
then there was a small glimpse of a recovery, but then smashed through the
remainder of the tail. We bowled them out for a dismal 83. Great fielding and
catching throughout the day. An arrogant but entertaining tandem bowling
session between Will Kiely, 5 / 10 (10.2 overs) and Adrian Sheridan, 4 / 48 (18
overs) put us in a great position at the change of innings. Nom Nom Nom Nom
Nom…!
Early wickets fell, putting us 1/6 … 2/6 … 3/15… 4/32… 5/49… then a handy
partnership between Danny Miller and Adrian Sheridan putting us past the Mt
Lawley total, ending 7 / 98 at the end of the first day… Points to Carlisle!
Day 2 – Positive batting which lifted momentum in the first hour of the 2nd day,
most batsmen getting starts, highlights include; Adrian Sheridan (56), Colin
Devincentiis (34) and Joel Shore (29)… Carlisle, all out 192, a great come back
and team effort. We were 109 in front with around 60 overs to bowl, a small
chance of a second innings victory. A few opportunities and decisions did not go
our way but it was a great effort by the boys, it was a long day but we stuck it out
which was positive. Highlights; Adrian Sheridan 4 / 29 (15 overs), John Baker 1 /
23 (14 overs) and Rohan Campbell bowling some speed and very unlucky with 1 /
15 (7 overs).
This week is basically an Elimination Final against Ascot…. The finals hopes are
still alive.
Well done Boys… Bring it on!!!
3rd Grade – Brendan Clark
Carlisle defeated Mt Lawley-Inglewood
10/146 &1/31 – 1/99 & 10/86
We came so close to an Outright win this weekend we could almost taste it.
Congrats guys this was a great performance all around the park.
As usual we lost the toss (only won 2 this year) and as usual we were asked to
bowl, which as usual we were more than happy to oblige. Boasting probably the
best bowling attack in the comp we got off to another great start with Jimmy and
Caddy doing their thing both picking up early wickets. Then a bit of a dull patch
with no wickets or runs coming, the skip took a leaf out of Buddha’s play book
and tried to buy a wicket, with a bowling change the over before drinks. Turned
out to be the best decision of the game. McShane, Santa Claus, the Sea captain,

Caza whichever name you want to call him not only pick up his first 3 rd grade
wicket but ripped through Mt Lawley team almost singlehandedly picking up an
spectacular 5 of 27.
Again the ban on pre-game out field catching has paid dividends, all the catches
that should have been taken were taken great work boys. Mt Lawley all out for 99,
game on!
So aggressive hitting from Jaron and Rohit got us off to a great start and some
sensible cool headed innings from Sammy and Cam Whitting got us through to
the end of play at 3 / 76.
The next week we were steered home by Caddy with an impressive 30. Giving us a
handy lead, we ended up on 146. An outright was on the cards we thought.
We really put on another great display in the field, all the bowlers doing their part.
Jobin and Zac opened up for us this week and brought a contrast of pace and
control respectively that got us off to another good solid start. Stars for us were
Jimmy, showing why he is the find of the back half of the season with 2 for 11 off
8 and Moz performing again with 3 for 16 off 13, out swinger, slowerball, repeat.
Things are heating up for bowling spots in 3rd grade, we have some real depth
there. Mt Lawley all out for 86.
Unfortunately we were left with the task of 40 to get in 2 overs. A wicket in the
over before and we could have had an extra 2 overs. Tough ask but we were ready
to give it a red hot go. Suneeth and Jaron went as hard as they could in the first
over and scored 19. Suneeth hit one six onto the kennel’s roof! 12 was scored off
the second over, we feel 9 runs short. Exciting cricket guys!
A great win for a great team of guys! Let’s take this momentum into the last two
games Vs the top two on the ladder. Why wait to beat them in the finals let’s do it
now Red Dogs. Woof! Woof!
5th Grade – Peter Andersson
Carlisle defeated Belmont
5/197 – 1/69 & 10/98
Won the toss and sent them in and after a much improved fielding effort we rolled
Belmont for 69. All the bowlers used took wickets and after holding almost all our
catches we finally got a team out for under a 100.
Lenny
4/33
Lidds
3/27
Vinny
3/8
Started batting on Day 1 and passed their score without losing a wicket and
finished Day 1 on 3/115. With Wheels making 42 and Ando 33 (given out enough
I didn’t hit it, thanks Lidds).
Day 2 and Manu (49), Liam (35no) and Shaun (14) took the score to 5/197 by the
first drinks breaks when I declared.
The second innings was much like the first, with all bowlers takings wickets,
Lidds
4/30 Vinny
2/28 Lenny
plus a fantastic direct hit run-out from Chris Jowsey.
2/31
Wheels 1/8
So an outright win puts us in 2nd place on the ladder and a great chance to
consolidate a place in the top 2 with a win over the top team this week.
5TH GRADE – 1 DAY GRAND FINAL
CARLISLE
def. by
97
(8 Feb 2015)
KARRINYUP
5/99
A hot, hot day and we won the toss and batted, but only Manu (40) and sundries
(25) made any real contribution to the score and 97 was never really going to be
enough, even if the outfield was ridiculously slow for a grand final.
However we never gave up and the bowling and fielding was as good as it’s been
all season. In the end Karrinyup passed our score in the 28th over.
Lidds
1/23 (5ov)
Macca 1/18 (4ov)
Jimmy 1/23 (8ov)
Zac
1/8 (1.2ov)
Vinny 1/23 (8ov)
Thanks to everyone who came to watch and support the team, unfortunately
when only one club is selecting their team according to the rules, then maybe
there would have been a different result in this match.
So it’s Karrinyup again in a 2 day game this week and I’m expecting we will
reverse the result this time and consolidate 2nd spot.
7th Grade – Round 10 - Darryl Jago
Carlisle defeated by Karrinyup
10/298 – 4/337
Well what a game. After a long day in the field last week with only 10 players, and
not our best fielding effort for the season Karrinyup got on top early with some
very lucky batting. End of the day we restricted them to 4/337, yes the biggest
total scored against us this year.
Ok, now for Carlisle to bat and knowing that about 4.2 runs/over would give us
victory and rip the hearts out of Karrinyup we got off to the perfect start.
Matt Luhrs and myself put on 109 off 13 overs before I toed a ball to mid wicket
and was caught on the boundary for 73. Matt then lost a few more quick wickets
around him before being dismissed himself for 71. Jamie Hawkey chipped in with
33.
Then the surprise partnership from Damon Parsons who got his highest ever
score 44 and Alwin Vargihese 6 putting on 45 for the 8th wicket.
So with only 10 batsmen, we ended up 298. Even thou we lost it was a great effort
by all and an enjoyable game to watch.
Bring on Mt Lawley this week at Higgins Park be there before 12.30
Cheers
