Hogs Alumni VS FSPD Tournament Champions!
“The OLD CODGERS”

Recent Events: Hogs VS FSPD Basketball Game!
On March 4th at Northside High School we had our most recent fundraising event which was a huge
success. Former Hogs Alumni competed against the Fort Smith Police Department in a Basketball game.
The game was competitive and came down to a last second shot for the FSPD to tie the game, however,
they missed leaving the Hogs Alumi as the winners! The real winners were the boy's at the Shelter. All of
the boys attended and enjoyed themselves, getting autographs from the players, eating food, and some
actually watched the game!
Without question the former Hogs made this game possible, because they are loved in the community and
will always be RAZORBACKS! However, this game was also in support of the FSPD and all they do for our
community. The fans, supporters, and community came out for this event and all financial budgets were
exceeded. With that success, the Boy's Shelter plans to make this an annual event.

Message from the Executive Director: Eddie Donovan
What a wonderful start to the year! Supporters continue to make all the difference in our success. We
also have made some wonderful new friends at fundraising events and through Facebook. Their
support is greatly appreciated.
As you know it’s time to move forward for future fundraising events, but I simply can't move forward
without thanking again the Hogs Alumni and the Fort Smith Police Department for participating in our
basketball game at Northside High School on March 4th! The event was very successfully financially,
but more importantly, it was very successful with community outreach and involvement.
Importantly, I want to talk about our Board Members. We have gained (4) new members over the last
year which have brought many blessings to the Boy’s Shelter. Insight, support both financial and
emotional, as well as a different look into continuing issues nonprofits face every year. Without the
support of all the Board Members, who knows where the Boy’s Shelter would be today, or frankly if
there would even be a Shelter. I am very proud of all of the Board Members and know with their
direction the Boy’s Shelter has a very bright future.
If any of our SUPPORTERS have suggestions, or ideas which would benefit the Shelter, please call,
email, or come by so we can discuss them. Your input is invaluable to our growth and success, and
you are appreciated for all you do.
Since we opened in April 2016, we have been blessed to have had 54 boys grace our home. While
being a long-term facility in which boy's can stay until they reach 18, many have moved on to
provisional homes, have been adopted, or simply needed a higher level of care. We can only hope
we have made an impact on their lives comparable to the impact they have had on ours.
Regards,
Eddie Donovan

The Shelter certainly has business and grant support which goes along
way in making us successful. However, the individual and local support
makes all the difference. Many supporters are tireless, weekly cooking
meals, giving financial support and volunteering anyway needed. That
support is very meaningful but also motivates the staff in many ways, most
notably by understanding and seeing the difference we make in the lives of
children who most need it. Thank you all very much for your support!
