THE EFFECTS OF VIDEO GAMES BBC DOCX File

BBC News School Report
How Video Games Affect
Children.
These days most children are playing video games and
most of the games they play, are above their age range.
These games have a sticker on them saying 18+ for a
reason. Some children try to imitate what they see or
do on the 18+ games that they play.
Video games effect children by making them think they
are allowed to do it in the real world because they see
it in a game and they have not fully matured to know that it is just a
game. “What if the parents bought the game” some of you will say,
and the normal reply is it’s the parents’ choice. But our reply is the
parents don’t see the long term effects of buying the games they just
buy and don’t care about the long term as long as it keeps the child
quiet. My advice don’t buy games for your children.
Not all games are bad, a lot of games are child friendly. For example:
Forza, Fifa, rocket league, etc. These games can help children
because they become more alert and they make children think more
on the puzzle games. Also, a lot of games are very sociable and helps
children to make friends. However, some games can isolate children
from their family or friends. Constantly using a controller can lead to
RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) and eye strain. A lot of parents spoil
their children so when they ask for a game, the parents buy them the
game. This can lead to financial issues for the parents.
What we’re trying to say is that if you are going to buy your children
video games, make sure they are suitable style games and to keep in
mind the advantages and disadvantages of video games.
