WAVE from SPÄH wins the pro-K competition "Product of the Year 2014"
SCHEER, January 2014: This year – which marks the fiftieth anniversary of seal technology
firm Karl Späh GmbH & Co. – has got off to a fine start, with the WAVE acoustic absorber
winning the best plastic product award.
The "Product of the Year" award is given every year to outstanding products in which the material
plastic has been key to the product's successful realization. From a huge number of applications,
an expert jury from the pro-K industrial association selected a total of 22 innovative plastic products
for 11 different categories.
The "wave" shaped WAVE acoustic absorber, newly developed for the Luzern trade fair, is
amongst the winners of the "Product of the Year 2014" competition in the category "Household
equipment and technology".
The Jury described our product as: "Harmonious design from the bionic field. This is sound
absorption dressed very smartly, which will play an important role in interior architecture design."
The WAVE acoustic absorber is made
out of individual lamellae which are
clicked together to create a module. In
this novel, interconnected design the
different modules are hung in a diagonal
line to a substructure and put together
like a jigsaw puzzle.

Now we can refer to our "waved acoustic absorber" as a "Product of the Year", and we have
simultaneously been nominated for the Federal Republic Design Prize in Germany.
Currently the SPÄH WAVE team is in
Frankfurt, receiving their award at the official
prize giving ceremony for the plastic prize.
