Role play in the travel agents booking holidays and packing cases.
Letters and sounds – Looking at blending and segmenting words.
Sharing stories; ‘Whatever next’ story to be shared in the white room.
Linking this session with Literacy and communication skills asking
children what happens in the story at the beginning, middle and
end. Topic Sensory Story- Lost and found by Oliver Jeffers.
During this half term we will be focusing on recognising shapes both
2d and 3d. We will also measure capacity looking at measuring jugs
and comparing them. We will build our own transport vehicle and
measure how long it is. We will continue to use mathematical
language in all areas of learning and children will help to count out
items in their play.
This half term we are learning about travel and transport we will
share vacations and trips we have been on, talking about what was
different and similar compared to where we live. The children will
look at different modes of transport and how people travel in
different ways to work or school. This half term we are also visiting
Stockley farm! We will look at many different animals and even get
to ride on a tractor.
Continuing to promote skills of independence and social skills.
We will be working in large groups, small groups and individually.
We will begin transitional work in preparation for moving up to big
school and talking about what the children are looking forward to
doing in their new schools. We will talk about visits to school and look
at photos of the schools children are going to. Children will be able
to talk about any worries or concerns they have during circle time
sessions.
Children will be Creating some large scale transport vehicles with
boxes and other junk modelling items. Children will be encouraged
to use lots of different media and materials.
We will be learning some new transport related songs and different
actions to copy during them. Children will be making paper mache
rockets in small groups.
We will also use different transport vehicles in the paint to make
marks on large paper.
Focusing on Motor Skills United sessions led by our Early Years
Practitioner Kylie. Children will be participating in games that
develop their core stability and balance. We will create new actions
to represent different vehicles and play stop and go games.
In fine motor skills we will be practising some life skills and having fun
making sandwiches and helping to prepare the nursery snacks.
