Street theatre campaign CRY had one of its most exclusive events of the year the “Street theatre campaign”, where the volunteers came together, scripted out a play to create awareness amongst the people about various issues that are gripping the nation with regard to Child Rights. This year, our main focus was, on conveying the importance of education for children and getting them back to schools. Well it all begun with a theatre workshop that was conducted exclusively for Street theatre, where our facilitator Manjunarayan brought together all our ideas and transformed them into a beautiful play. We had come of the craziest, funniest and embarrassing moments with our unconventional instructor. All this fun did not end with just the workshop. Our practice sessions atCubbon Park were filled with enthusiasm and zeal. Volunteers overcame their language barrier, comfort zones and happy places to work for a cause – along with fund of course. All those efforts did not go in vain as we performed a dozen of times in four locations, cheered and supported by our volunteers. The response from the crowd was beyond what we imagined and was very over whelming. We realised that with these performance we had built connect with the children as they enjoyed and performed along with us. Dancing, singing and playing drums with the children, their involvement, the entire evening to us mean that we served the purpose of the street play. At the end of the play, we volunteers realised that we are a small bunch of people supporting a big change in the country.
