July 29, 2017 Re: Possible school closure Dear Parents, I thought this was a timely moment to let you know our plans and procedures for school closure if the need should arise. As you know we put the safety of our pupils and staff as our highest priority. We also understand the commitments that you all have. We will always endeavour to keep the school open, although on occasion this may not be feasible, especially if significant numbers of staff are not able to get into school. Many of our staff live many miles away and travel conditions need to be taken into consideration before a decision can be made. We have an elaborate system of communication which entails all staff letting the Senior Management Team know of their individual situation. Mr Matthews also contacts me to let me know about conditions around the school. Once we have the status report, we will make a decision as to if the school needs to be closed or on occasion (e.g. if more poor weather is expected) if the school will be partially closed for either some children or for some of the day. We would let you know of this decision by a message on the school website which should be in place by 7:10. We will also try to email everyone, let the local radio and Local Authority. Similarly, the kitchen staff will try to get in, but we also have a ‘Plan B’ for if they don’t. Thank you for your support with this and if you think someone may not be aware of the procedure, please let them know. Fingers crossed that we don’t need to do any of the above, but we are prepared!
