African countries battle it out at FASU Games 2014
In matches played on Monday July 14 2014 and Tuesday July 15, 2014, the Uganda women
Soccer teams were crowned winners after beating Kenya 4-1 in a penalty shootout.
The Kenya Soccer Men team lost to Ghana, 2-0. The two teams will battle it out today,
Wednesday July 16, 2014 at the Kenya Science Campus to determine the winner.
In men’s handball, Egypt beat Kenya in two matches giving the Egyptians a clear lead in
handball.
In men’s basketball Egypt beat Mozambique 57-55 and 61-56, while Kenya beat Egypt 5951 and lost to Mozambique 59-50. In women’s basketball, Kenya beat both Uganda and
Mozambique 63-55 and 58-51 respectively while Uganda beat Mozambique 59-33 and 5446. All the teams will battle it out today at the Nyayo Gymnasium to determine the finalists.
Athletics final saw Egypt take position 1, Ghana position 2 and Kenya position 3. Other
teams that competed in athletics were South Africa, Senegal, Cameroon, Uganda and
Zimbabwe.
In swimming competition Egypt emerged winners after bagging 5 medals as Uganda
bagged 2 and Kenya took home 1 medal.
The FASU Games end on tomorrow, Thursday July 17, 2014 with a closing ceremony at the
Chancellor’s Court from 11.30 am.
