ENTRIES
 Entries must be submitted online via EnterNOW by 11.59pm 28 February 2017.
 Entries received after the entry closing date may be accepted at the discretion of College Sport.
 Late entry fees will apply.
TEAM REGISTRATION
 Team lists must be submitted online via EnterNOW by 11.59pm 28 February 2017.
 Teams must have a minimum of:
 1 x Team Manager
 1 x Coach
 12 x Players min. and max. 18 players per roster
 Schools wishing to enter more than 1 team must have at least 30 (18+12) players
TEAM MANAGEMENT
All teams must have a teacher or adult with them at every game. This person is to complete the
score sheet before and after the game where needed, be aware of any medical problems of players
in the team, implement the rules of the competition, and supervise the players. Teams without
supervision may lose by default.
FEES
 $180 per team (incl. GST).
 College Sport will invoice schools once the season has begun.
 Teams withdrawn after the entry closing date will still be liable for the entry fee.
SCORES AND RESULTS
 Scores will be kept by the coaches at each game.
 Results are the responsibility of the school to enter. Results can be entered online in
SportsRunner or emailed to [email protected]. It is the school’s responsibility to
check weekly, the accuracy of results on the website, www.collegesport.co.nz.
 Corrections to results will not be accepted within 2 days of a final.
COACHING
Auckland Baseball understands that baseball is a new sport for many schools, and that the
knowledge of the game is limited in New Zealand. Therefore, Auckland Baseball has identified
several club coaches that are available to assist with the coaching of teams at the schools.
 Coaches can be booked for 10 sessions (5 practices, 5 games) for $25 per session. Total: $250.00.
(Additional coaching sessions can be arranged between the school and the coach)
 If your school would like the opportunity to take on a coach for the season, please contact
Auckland Baseball prior to the beginning of the season, or indicate that you would like a coach
on the entry form.
 Auckland Baseball can assist participating schools with training of players, coaches, umpires, and
scorers where requested.
RULES
Please refer to the College Sport Website & App for the College Sport Bylaws for General Eligibility
and the Defaults and Rescheduling Policy.
Additionally, found on the College Sport Website and App will be the Official Rules of Baseball for
application to all levels of play, along with the Auckland Baseball Association Secondary School
Baseball Regular Season Rules, used in supplementation, which has been designed to foster the
development and provide for the safety of participants.
Rules In summary;
Game Length
Auckland Baseball has adopted an optional 1 ½ hour time limit game-ending procedure that may be
instituted for regular season tournament games. No new inning shall start after 1hr 30min
 A game can only commence as an official game if there are a minimum of EIGHT (8) eligible
players for each team. If eight (8) eligible players at game commencement cannot take the field
the team short of players must forfeit that game, however a game will still be played with shared
players if necessary.
 Rescheduled games due to rain will be as per the College Sport Bylaws – refer Defaults &
Rescheduling
Pitching Limitations
A pitcher is restricted to a maximum of three innings per game, and a maximum of 10 innings of
pitching in a day or during any three (3) consecutive days.
Championship Baseball
The official baseball for the championships is the DOL-A by Diamond and will be supplied by
Auckland Baseball.
Diamond Locations
Competition sites for all district and regional series events shall be conducted within the
zone/regional boundaries. However, an event may be hosted beyond the zone/regional border only
in cases where the school’s facility is contiguous to the school campus but physically located beyond
the border.
Dugouts
Assigned Dugouts during Tournament Play: If mutual agreement cannot otherwise be reached by
participating coaches, the top team on the bracket for each game will occupy the first base dugout.
Before each game the two opposing coaches will meet with the tournament manager as soon as
possible after arriving to determine the home team.
