Only £4 per session, museum admission applies.
Sessions run term time only.
Museum Baby (under two years old)
Fridays, 10am – 11am
Special baby sessions linked to exhibitions, including songs and sensory activities for babies and their
carers. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led activities which all relate to the early years
Curriculum. A perfect introduction to museums!

Make a smelly picture and play the ‘Guess the Smells’ activity.

Make a shaker and guess the sounds game.
Taste

Taste the yellow foods to see if they are sweet sour or savoury and play with the toy food.

Make a feely collage, and make a den with various texture materials.

Look in mirrors and draw a self-portrait, look through the colour toys and make a funny face game.
Early Years Explorers (two – five years old) Thursdays, 10am – 11am
Activities for children aged two to five years old which include songs, stories, games and craft activities.
Sessions are based on familiar preschool play areas, which are enhanced to help children learn about the
museum’ collections and exhibitions through play. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led
activities which all relate to the Early Years curriculum.

Dress as a Viking, play with the Viking snap cards and make a card Viking long boat model.
Seasons
22nd June
Play with the inflatable sun, put the leaves on the season’s tree and listen to story about summer.
Skeletons
29th June
Find the bones in the sand, do the skeleton jigsaw, print the bones on the body, and look at real skeletons.
Extinct
6th July
Look at dinosaur fossils, listen to the Dodo story, and play the extinct or not game.
Prehistory
13th July
Make a prehistoric cave painting, dress up as cave people, and hunt the wild animals
