The long hand is the minute hand.
The short hand is the hour hand.
There are 60 minutes on a clock
face. Count by fives to count
the minutes.
When the minute hand is pointing to
12, read the time as “o’clock”. The
hour hand is pointing to the 3 and it
is “3 o’clock”.

What time is it?
It is 3 o’clock.
What time is it, Mr. Wolf? is a fun game to
practice today’s expressions. All the children are
lined up on a wall. At the other end of the room
there is a leader. All the children yell "What time is it,
Mr. Wolf?" and the leader, with her back to the
children at all times, yells out a time like "10 o’clock!".
The children take 10 steps closer to the leader. After
