This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for
those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and
services that we offer all our guests/visitors.
Access Statement for The Chalet, Holidays for All
Introduction
The Chalet, Holidays for All is situated on a working farm overlooking
the East Lothian coastal town of Dunbar. With beautiful views looking
out over the Firth of Forth, May Island and Bass Rock, you are
guaranteed to see stunning sunsets. The town of Dunbar is
approximately a 2.8 miles drive away, while Edinburgh is
approximately 30 miles, but a short drive or train trip will allow you to
visit Scotland's capital city.
The chalet is positioned on a flat area with a large concrete parking
area suitable for 3 vehicles. From here you can access the building
via a decked ramp or 2 step stair. Both allow you to access the chalet
either through the patio door (small ramp) or low threshold side door.
The chalet was purpose built in 2017 and it was partially funded by a
farm diversification grant from Tyne Esk Leader. With features such
as a Prism ceiling track hoist in the master bedroom leading into the
adapted wetroom as well as an adapted kitchen, the chalet should be
able to cater for most people.

Pre-Arrival


The nearest railway station is Dunbar which is 2.8 miles away.
Taxis are available at the station. If you require an accessible
taxi (Torrance Taxis 01368862612) this can be booked in
advance, see contact information for details.
There are no buses to take you to and from the chalet as we
are located on a working farm.
Once you have arrived at the chalet it has a large concrete car
park right next to the decked ramp leading you to the chalet.
You can arrange to either call at the farm or meet us at the
chalet.
A welcome pack of locally sourced bread, milk, tea, coffee and
Pinkerton Farm eggs. Please notify us of any
allergies/preferences that you may have.
There is a large ASDA which is 2.2 miles from the chalet for
shopping or alternatively you can shop locally in Dunbar which
is a short drive of 3 miles away.
Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking



Keys can be collected from West Meikle Pinkerton Farm or we
can meet you at the chalet. (the farm is just a 2 minute drive
from the chalet)
Parking is available directly next to the chalet which is concrete
and can accommodate 3 vehicles.
Lights can be switched on in advance of arrival if it is dark.
Entrance to Property





The entrance is accessed via a large decked ramp of
105cm/59" wide.
There are 2 entrances to the chalet; the front door is 83cm/33"
wide with low threshold. As you enter the building via this door
there is a mirrored, glass (sliding doors) wardrobe which offers
storage for guests luggage and washing machine.
There is a sliding patio door of 96cm/38" with a small ramp.
The chalet is well lit via the outside lights (which can be turned
on before arrival when it is dark.
The floor is laminate with no bumps.
Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways






The hallway is well lit with ceiling spot lights.
Passageways are 120cm/47" wide.
The floor covering is laminate with no bumps.
It is all ground level.
All bedrooms are accessed from this hallway.
Access to the standard bathroom is also from this area.
Sitting Room/Lounge






The sitting room/lounge is an large, open plan space with
kitchen and dining area included.
The door to this room is 79cm/31" wide.
The floor is laminate without any bumps.
The seating area has a 2 seater and a 3 seater sofa which can
be moved to accommodate guests. There is also a tub chair,
which again can be moved if necessary. These have non
feather cushions.
There are a nest of tables which can moved to a specific area.
The widescreen TV and DVD player are mounted on the wall
and can be set to use with subtitles where required.



There is also a wall mounted electric fire which can be used if
required.
It is lit by ceiling spot lights and 2 pendant lights.
This area is very well lit with natural light due to the large, glass
fronted patio door and windows.
Dining Room







The sitting room/lounge is an large, open plan space with
kitchen and dining area included.
The door to this room is 79cm/31" wide.
The floor is laminate without any bumps.
There is a large wooden table with 4 corner legs which can be
moved if needed. There are 6 chairs (padded seats) with no
arms on them. The height underneath the table is 68cm/27".
There is free space around the table on both sides.
It is lit by ceiling spot lights and 2 pendant lights.
This area is very well lit with natural light due to the large, glass
fronted patio door and windows.
Kitchen






The sitting room/lounge is an large, open plan space with
kitchen and dining area included.
The door to this room is 79cm/31" wide.
The floor is laminate without any bumps.
The oven is lowered with a drop down door. It is 79cm/31" to
the top of it.
The microwave is situated above this with a bottom height of
100cm/40" and top height of 137cm/54".
The standard work top is 92cm/36" and the lowered worktop is
76cm/30".






The sink (mixer tap) and hob (gas) have roll away units should
wheelchair users wish to use them. They are both 92cm/36"
(please advise of this when booking)
The lowest drawer of the freezer is 49cm/19" and the lowest
drawer of the fridge is 92cm/36".
There is a dishwasher available to use.
Glasses and crockery can be moved to lower units if required.
Please advise of this when booking. The top drawer is
80cm/32".
It is lit by ceiling spot lights and 2 pendant lights.
This area is very well lit with natural light due to the large, glass
fronted patio door and windows.
Bedrooms and Sleeping Areas









All bedrooms are lit by ceiling spot lights, laminate flooring and
door widths of 79cm/31".
Master Bedroom There are 2 electric lifting beds (height of bed 56cm/22") which
can be set up as a single or twin room. (please advise when
booking) There is also the option of a bedrail being attached
(please advise when booking)
When set up as 2 single beds the space between the 2 beds is
92cm/36". This can be widened if required.
There is a Prism ceiling track hoist which allows access all over
the room and into the en-suite wet room, guests must provide
their own sling and advise when booking that they require this
facility.
There are 2 panic alarm red cords beside each bed in this
room. This alarm is sounded in the hallway.
There are bedside cabinets beside each bed with a touch table
lamp.
Main light switches are positioned beside the beds to be
reached whilst in bed.

Bedroom 2 Zip and link beds - can form 2 singles or a super king size

When set up as a super king there is a space of 61cm/24" at
the side of each bed.
There are bedside tables beside each bed with a touch table

Large, mirrored wardrobe with storage and hanging space.
Bedroom 3 Zip and link beds - can form 2 singles or a super king size
(please advise when booking)
Bed height 61cm/24".
When set up as 2 singles there is a space of 107cm/42"
between the beds.
There are bedside tables beside each bed with a touch table
lamp.









Both wet room and bathroom have ceiling spot lights.

Level entry, step free shower.
Door width 87cm/34", blue horizontal grab rail fixed to the back
of the door.

Shower area with blue horizontal and vertical grab rails. Shower
chair available on request (advise when booking) and panic

Clos-o-mat toilet (height 44cm/17") with wash/dry facility (can
be switched off if required, please advise when booking). Blue
drop down grab rail to the left (if sitting on the toilet) and vertical
grab rail to right. Horizontal blue grab rail to the left and vertical
blue grab rail beyond that.
Panic alarm to the left of the toilet.
Sink (height 74cm/29" with mixer tap) with wall mounted
pedestal.
Large mirror above sink with shaving light and lowered shaving
point. Vertical blue grab rail to the right of the mirror.
2 chrome heated towel rails - one to the right of the sink/mirror,
the other, to the right as you come through the door.
Standard bathroomLevel entry.

Sink height 84cm/33" with mixer tap and wall mounted
pedestal.
Large mirror over the sink with shaving mirror and shaver point.
Shower over the bath, black with "blizzard" flecks behind the

Chrome heated towel rail to the left of the bath (when in the
bath)
Garden

The large decking area is reached from either door.


Table with 4 corner legs and chairs ( which can be moved to
suit guests) consisting of 2 double benches and 2 single chairs
with arms.
Potted plants and stunning views allow for al fresco dining.
Additional Information








Trained assistance dogs are welcomed.
Walls and flooring are a different colour, however the walls are
pine and the floor is a darker shade of laminate. Both
bathrooms have a good contrast between the floor and the wall.
Doors are painted white for contrast.
Good mobile phone reception.
The nearest hospital with A&E unit is Edinburgh Royal Infirmary

Future Plans


We are hoping to make a better, accessible walkway to the
farm sheds.
We would like to build an accessible BBQ hut.
