can freeze ahead of time.)
SILENT AUCTION and RAFFLE PRIZE items - You can always donate an item or gift
certificate for a store or restaurant from your own family! Leave any items you might have
in the office.
CAKE WALK – Please, could you also make a cake or two for the cake walk? This is a
very popular game at the Fair. The cake does not need to be anything fancy. You could use
a pack of cake mix and bake in two foil containers and cover with candy, buy or make icing
and then decorate. The crazier, the better!!!

12th May Thurs – 7:00pm basket wrapping in the community room
13th May Friday – Set up straight after school.
ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
Thank you!
Next week is Mental Health Week. Please see the attached poster about
activities in Gibsons on Saturday, May 7.
Jump Rope for Heart: We had an active afternoon on Wednesday! Students were assigned
to one of seven multi-grade teams of K to 7 students and the groups worked their way
through seven jump rope stations that lasted from 1:00-2:30. No doubt, each student jumped
hundreds of times and I saw lots of smiling faces. (A few had very serious faces as they
attempted to conquer personal bests at each station.) Pledges can continue to be made using
the paper form or by going online until Monday, May 9.
A BIG THANK YOU to Ms. Bjarnason who took Division 2 to Camp Byng for three days
and two nights this week! I popped in each day to see thoroughly engaged students learning
in an outdoor setting. Thanks as well to the many parents who volunteered their time to
help out during daily shifts. This will be a life-long memory for the class.
COMMUNITY NEWS:
Summer is a time for kids to play, run, get outside and have fun with friends. For more than 100
years, the YMCA has provided camp adventures that help kids learn about themselves, grow in
self-confidence and gain new skills in a safe and caring environment. From overnight camps
with activities like archery, climbing, sailing and canoeing, to day camps full of out trips, arts &
