New members
We agreed at the start that we wanted to have 2 business members of the Stakeholder group to
maintain the multi-stakeholder approach to the GNR. The SUN Business Network – represented by
GAIN has been talking to its members about involvement and have recommended Cargill. Pleased to
welcome Kate Houston to the group. Cargill was the first member of the SUN Business Network and is
signatory to the N4G Compact and has made a number of specific commitments – on SUN website.
Launch of the report
Pleased to update you that request for ICN2 side event to launch the GNR has been successful.
Timing not yet confirmed. We have been asked by the ICN2 secretariat to join forces with the launch
of the Global Hunger Index which also requested a side event. There are good connections here
which will be mutually beneficial.
Progress update from the co-chairs

2.
The IEG met for the first time on June 2.
Data are beginning to come in. Initial simple analyses of WHA data (which themselves are
still under review by the countries): Fig 1 - how many countries have data to assess whether
on track or not, and Fig 2 - how many countries on track for different numbers of indicators.
The IEG have noted that nutrition data management is very fragmented and the gaps in data
are significant. If a data revolution is to take place in nutrition then it must be supported
financially.
3.
A key priority is to settle on the indicator set for country profiles. The Co-chairs will draft a
short paper in next week, laying out criteria for inclusion/exclusion of indicators, and an
indicator set together, with some options for finalisation. A draft will be shared with SG for
views.
External Review of Report – The Lancet have agreed to do this as their contribution. They
have also suggested the IEG write a Viewpoint piece (and perhaps with reaction pieces).
Country launches are being planned in India, Ethiopia, Brazil, Indonesia and Senegal, and
international launches in Belgium, Italy (ICN2), UK and USA.

Logos on cover. IEG thinks that all Stakeholder Group organisations should be on the back
cover. Businesses should be listed as members of the SUN Business Network. If logos are
restricted to SG membership, then what about including long term champions of nutrition?
Views from the SG sought.
Views from the SG: there was broad agreement that we should be as inclusive as possible
with respect to branding the report. IEG and SG members would be invited to brand (noting
that the IEG has final editorial control over the report), and other members of the SUN
movement would be invited to brand the report. If others outside the SUN movement wish to
brand we will discuss this within the SG in due course.
7.
N4G compact. It is clear that the business and CSOs are struggling to report on their
commitments. We are working with SUN B-N and SUN CSO-N. We are considering writing to
all 96 signatories and asking them to complete a short basic template for the website. View
from SG welcomed.
Views from the SG: The GNR must include an update on all commitments made at N4G.
There has been a lot of work in the last few months to integrate tracking of N4G
commitments made by businesses, CSOs, donors and countries into the SUN M&E in order to
minimise transaction costs for all and promote consolidation. A small number of
stakeholders may fall outside these processes, however, and these could be targeted with a
special communication to gather information on progress.
