Detailed Description : (For Teacher Use to write Teacher's script)
Introduce the students What the mouse Pointers are. Pointers are also called Cursors. The pointer is a symbol that moves on the screen as you move the mouse. The pointer can take many shapes with different meanings . Always place the upper tip of the pointer in the middle of the object or the word on which you want to click. If you click too hard or long, you may see this symbol. Types of Mouse Pointers:
1. Normal Pointer
You can see this pointer during normal use of mouse.
2. Busy Pointer
The busy pointer is also called the hourglass. Its means the computer is busy . Sometimes you can see this symbol also . 3. I Beam Pointer The capital ‘I’ pointer is used in text processing programs and search boxes. It is used to highlight blocks of text and to move the insertion point to another place in your document.
4. Internet Cursor
This symbol means that a click will lead to a new web page or website. When you move the pointer over a hyper link or button, the pointer shape will turn into the hand shape. Text links are usually blue or purple and underlined. Pictures can be links too.
5 . Moving object pointer
This tool is used to move objects including pictures, tables or and graphics. 6. Moving line Pointer
Use this tool to click and drag a line . It is used to move the lines of a table or to make a picture larger or smaller .
Lesson Plan Outline:
Since the kids are of First Std , explain about the normal pointer and mention about other pointers only if it is necessary .
Introduction
Ask students 'Where is our black board ?'( You can ask for any object that is present in class ). Make them point out the object . Say we can point an object like this Similarly we can point out things in the computer using Mouse pointers . Activities Activity no : 1
Objective : To make kids know about pointing.
1 . Sliding the mouse on the mouse pad moves the pointer on the screen. Rest your hand on the mouse, move it slowly around the mouse pad, and see what happens to the arrow on the screen. 2 . Ask kids to point out each item on the desktop and say its name loudly (Like My computer , My Documents etc ).
3. Open a Picture in Computer .Ask them to point out monkey's eyes , ears , mouth etc.
4 . Open a folder containing only pictures . Ask them to click on each picture and say What is it .

Objective : To make kids know about different types of pointers .
1 . Open a Word document and ask them to find out Cursor . After that ask them to point the mouse to a word and say what happen to the pointer. (The pointer will change from Arrow or normal cursor to I Beam ).
