Dear Colleague in Sport
I am writing to advise you of details for the last fixture of the Cross Country season. This will be held at
Rookery Farm, Coundon, Coventry: on Saturday 17th February 2007 at 2.30pm. Associated are
details of the course and directions for getting there.
This year we have a new venue for our event. Unfortunately the local schools were unable to
accommodate us so Registration and changing facilities are not on the same site. You will see from the
plans that they are on opposite sides of the course. For reference, the distance between them is about one
(1) kilometre walking across the fields and two (2) kilometres by road. Please see directions 2b or 3b for
road route between Race HQ and changing facilities.
The Race Headquarters will be in the Wedge Lounge of the Coundon Social Club (vehicle access
from end of Kingsbury Road, next to Three Spires School - CV6 1PJ for Sat Navs). There will be
direct access to the Wedge Lounge from patio doors on West Face of building. There is plenty of parking
at the HQ and there is direct access to the course from the parking area. Refreshments, in the form of the
famous Northbrook spread and hot drinks, will be available before and after the race and, for those so
inclined, the Club Licensed Bar will also be open.
The Changing Facilities are at the Northbrook Sports Club (Try CV6 2AJ on your Sat Nav). The
Club building was burned down a while ago so they have temporary facilities for changing. However, I
am assured that the showers (four each in "home" and "away" ends) will be heated. So that has got to be
better than the "character building" ones at Coundon Hall Park.
The details of the course are for reference only and may change, due to conditions, on the day. As
indicated above, the course is on farmland and whilst there are Public Footpaths across the fields,
permission for use as a Cross Country Event is only given for the day of the race. Please respect this
agreement otherwise we may be denied use in future years.
The course consists of farm grass pasture land used for cattle grazing. Note that, due to the mild weather
the fields were used up to December. It rises approx 20 metres from West to East. The brook being the
lowest part and North East corner the highest. There is a very gentle fall from North to South.

From M6 (Junction 3) - Take A444 towards Coventry until second roundabout (approx 1 ½ miles). Take second
exit onto Holbrook Way. At next roundabout stay in middle lane and take first exit - stay in outside lane. At next
junction turn right onto Burnaby Road. Over two sets of lights and at next roundabout take first exit onto Keresley
Road. At next roundabout (Wallace PH) turn right onto Norman Place Road. Straight on at roundabout and on to
Tee-junction at end.
a. For Race HQ: Turn left, first right into Haynestone Road, next right onto Rosslyn Ave, first left onto
Shorncliffe Road, at bottom of road turn right for Coundon Social Club.
b. For Changing/Showers: Turn right, first left (Coundon Pub) into Northbrook Road, at bottom of hill turn
left into Northbrook Sports Club.
From A45 - Leave A45 at Allesley and take A4114 towards Coventry. At roundabout take third exit onto Holyhead
Road. At lights turn left onto Kingbury Road.
a. For Race HQ: Straight on at end of road to Coundon Social Club.
b. For Changing/Showers: follow road onto Shorncliffe Road, at end turn right and left and left again onto
Holyfast Road, after ¼ mile (Coundon Pub) turn left onto Northbrook Road, at bottom of hill turn left into
Northbrook Sports Club.
From City Centre (Ring Road) - Exit Ring Road at junction 8 (A4114 towards Birmingham). Travel along A4114
to fourth set of lights (approx 1 ¼ miles), turn right onto Kingsbury Road.
a. For Race HQ: Straight on at end of road to Coundon Social Club.
b. For Changing/Showers: follow road onto Shorncliffe Road, at end turn right and left and left again onto
